Dr. Broom grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Pascagoula, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University in 1979. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in 1983 where he received a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Because of his love for children he decided to pursue a career that would allow him to devote his life to caring for them. In 1986 he completed a two-year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Childrens Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, one of the largest childrens hospitals in the United States. During his residency Dr. Broom received extensive specialty training that has proven invaluable in equipping him to provide excellent dental care for infants, children, and teens as well as children with special needs. He has been well trained in reducing fear and anxiety in apprehensive patients.
After completing his residency, Dr. Broom returned to the coast and established his practice of pediatric dentistry in Gulfport in 1987, and a second location was added in Ocean Springs in 2011. His practice is filled with patients from across the Mississippi Gulf Coast as well as from Louisiana and Alabama. Especially rewarding to him is that as his practice has grown he is now beginning to care for the children of his earliest patients.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Broom is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Mississippi Dental Association, the Mississippi Society of Pediatric Dentists, and is on staff at multiple local hospitals and outpatient surgery centers.
Dr. Brooms greatest joy is his family. He is married to the former Kathie English of Ocean Springs and they are parents of three daughters and two sons. The Brooms are active members of Mosaic Church of Ocean Springs. Dr. Brooms hobbies include running, hiking and photography.
Dr. Carter was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Gulfport, MS. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University. After completing her undergraduate training, she attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry where she received a Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree. During her four years of dental school, Dr. Carter participated in several community projects providing dental education and care to children. It was through these projects and her time in the pediatric dentistry clinic that she confirmed her decision to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Carter then completed a 2 year residency program specializing in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center/Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children.
Dr. Carter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Mississippi Dental Association, and the American Dental Association and is on staff at multiple local hospitals and surgery centers.
She has enjoyed working alongside Dr. Broom for the past 5 years taking care of the children of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She and her husband, Cory have a daughter, Avery, that they adore. Dr. Carter enjoys cooking, reading, and shopping. Dr. Carter and her husband also love participating in church activities at Mosaic Church and spending time with their family, friends and their dog, Riley.

We had a great experience at the pediatric dentist! All of my kids were seen efficiently and thoroughly. He talked to me about all of my concerns and talked to me at length about my options. I did not feel pressured at all. They made us all feel very comfortable. All of the staff was friendly and welcoming. Thank you!

Do not bring your kids here. They will charge you for procedures that you couldn't get done due to them not telling you certain details about your kids appointment!! So they had to cancel the appointment and wanted me to pay for it again .. when I brought her back for the next appointment!! Sounds like they just like taking money from parents! !!

Took my 5 year old there. The techs level of patience and understanding that my daughter was scared and wanted nothing to do with her was top notch. Half way through the appointment my kid was much more comfortable and wasn't scared. Highly recommended.

Very kind very friendly staff!! Was referred here because my extremely shy extremely overdramatic child could not be handled at the other dentist...they handled her like a champ and definitely put myself and my daughter at ease about future dentist visits!! Which is great since she's got another in a month. Update: coming here for a couple years now...the dentist is now one of my daughters favorite places to go! She gets so excited for about 2 weeks leading up to her visit and has no worries about mom not coming in back with her...as she says...she got this now!

Our first day was on the 20th.!! I am pleased and a happy parent.. wish I would've found them 4 years ago.!! I had my kid going to south Mississippi smiles and I honestly just didn't care for it.. so glad my supervisor told me to take ky here.. think we have found our forever dentist.!! And the staff Soooo nice and pleasant.!! And she loved it as well so that's always a plus for me.. happy kid happy parent!!
