Our full-service pediatric dentistry includes caring for patients with dental phobias, extensive dental work, painful and/or abscessed teeth, and those with special healthcare needs. However, our specialty lies in delivering safe and effective outpatient anesthesia for dental care.

Our practices story is simple. Coastal Pediactrics doctors are firm believers in the medical-dental model. In this model, dentistry is part of each patients overall health and wellbeing. The founders of Coastal Pediactric also love the beach, and therefore called Hampton Roads home. For this reason, the team decided to make their dream a reality a unique dental home with state-of-the-art outpatient anesthesia services.

It is this access to high-quality ambulatory anesthesia with a dedicated anesthesia provider that differentiates us from other practices. We aim to constantly raise the standard of care in the dental industry.

Unlike other practices that offer separate anesthesia services, we built our dental practice with anesthesia in mind. Without emphasizing patient safety, Coastal Pediatrics mission of oral health and wellness would be an empty promise.

Jonathan Wong is a Dentist Anesthesiologist with extensive postgraduate hospital training in delivering dentistry, oral surgery, and anesthesia. He graduated with honors, receiving his Bachelors of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Southern Illinois University. He completed his General Practice Residency/Hospital Dentistry training at Saint Johns Mercy Medical Center in Saint Louis, Missouri. Dr. Wong then completed two years of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and anesthesia training at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center and Phoenix Childrens Hospital. After realizing the importance of anesthesia in providing safe and comfortable dental care, he completed his residency and was appointed as Chief Resident at Stony Brook Medical Center in New York. Here, he provided sedation and general anesthesia to children and adults undergoing medical and dental procedures, both in and out of the hospital.

Dr. Wong maintains certifications in Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He is a Diplomate of both the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Wong lectures both locally and nationally to other dentists and healthcare professionals on anesthesia safety. He volunteers with Chesapeake Care Clinic and Mission of Mercy. He is also an affiliate instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Jillian Reynolds grew up in Harrisonburg, VA in the Shenandoah Valley and after high school graduation attended West Virginia University, in Morgantown, WV. She continued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned her DDS. Following VCU, she moved to New York and completed the Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Reynolds is trained to provide comprehensive dentistry to the well child as well as children that are medically compromised, developmentally disabled, or victims of trauma. In addition to treatment in office, Dr Reynolds is on the Professional Staff at the Childrens Hospital of the Kings Daughters, allowing her to address all levels of dental anxiety and cooperation with treatment under Nitrous Oxide or General Anesthesia. Dr. Reynolds is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.

Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Dr. Scott Sachs is proud to call Hampton Roads home. He graduated from Kempsville High School, received his B.A. from the University of Virginia, and his D.D.S degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. After dental school, Dr. Sachs committed three more years to advanced and specialized pediatric training in New York City: a one-year general practice residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, and then a two-year pediatric dental residency at New York University, serving as one of the chief residents his final year.

Dr. Sachs is trained to treat all types of children, patients with special needs, and victims of trauma. In order to address all levels of cooperation or patients with special needs, Dr. Sachs is trained to provide treatment using nitrous oxide sedation in the office or general anesthesia at the Childrens Hospital of Kings Daughters. Dr. Sachs is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and maintains his active membership with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.

We have hand-selected a team of doctors, nurses, dental assistants, and staff to ensure you receive the best dental care possible. In addition, our Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist will help you achieve and maintain a healthy mouth and smile.

This means that our office has been inspected by a 3rd party certifier and meets the standards necessary to provide deep sedation and general anesthesia in office. Patients, and parents, can rest assured that our facility meets the same safety standards that an ambulatory surgery center does. In addition, Coastal Pediatric Dental & Anesthesia has the ability to offer this level of care at a small fraction of the price that you would pay at the ambulatory surgical center or hospital. This is because of the fact that we specialize only in dentistry and do not provide any other medical procedures. Since our operating rooms are in house, patients can be seen without the inconvenience of waiting months to be placed on the schedule at the hospital or local ambulatory surgical center.

At Coastal Pediatric Dental & Anesthesia, you can rest assured that the office is clean and the dental equipment sterile. Weekly biologic testing is performed on all sterilization equipment. Our water lines are shocked according to CDC recommendations to ensure that biofilms have not accumulated in our dental systems. However, you do not need to take our word for it. We specifically designed our office to be open so that patients are able to see our sterilization center and that patient safety and infection control is paramount.
