Dr. Daniel Witcher comes from a dental background, having grown up in Southern California with a father who was a general dentist and a mother who was a dental hygienist. He attended the University of Southern California for his undergraduate education, and the prestigious University of the Pacific School of Dentistry for his dental schooling. Following that, he was accepted into the United States Navy Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) residency program, where he completed a General Surgery Internship and OMS residency right here in San Diego. During this world-class training program, Dr. Witcher learned state of the art surgical techniques in all aspects of oral and facial surgery, from dental surgery, to implant surgery, to complex facial reconstruction, trauma, and cosmetic surgery.
He then accepted active duty orders aboard the Nimitz Class aircraft carrier, the USS George Washington, based out of Yokosuka, Japan. After two deployments, Dr. Witcher returned to San Diego, where he was stationed with the United States Marines at the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot. He completed his board certification at that point, becoming a Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, and discharging from the Navy to pursue a career as a private practice oral surgeon.
An active learner, Dr. Witcher makes a point of staying up to date on the latest dental and surgical techniques and technology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a member of the California Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Western Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American and California Dental Associations, the American and California Dental Societies of Anesthesiology, and the San Diego County Dental Society.
In addition, Dr. Witcher enjoys giving back to those less fortunate, having volunteered in surgical and dental missions to Fiji and Mexico, as well as participating in CDA Cares and the California Care Force. Dr. Witcher currently serves as the Treasurer for the San Diego County Dental Foundation, where he worked with other leaders of the San Diego dental community to build a dental clinic in the Veterans Village of San Diego in 2015. Dr. Witcher currently volunteers monthly at that clinic to provide free oral surgery for homeless Veterans. In addition, Dr. Witcher is on the editorial board of the San Diego County Dental Society Newsletter, and is a contributing author to the newsletter for the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
In his spare time, Dr. Witcher enjoys the outdoors, including running, hiking, biking, fishing, camping, and snowboarding. He especially enjoys taking his young daughter, Amoret, to gymnastics, ballet, and soccer practice on the weekends. An avid sports fan, you can catch Dr. Witcher and his family cheering on the USC Trojans, Lakers, Dodgers, SDSU Aztecs, and San Diego Padres (as long as theyre not playing the Dodgers!).

Incredibly disappointed is how I would sum it up. I went in for a root cancel extraction and bone graph for an implant. All started well, procedure went well, etc. I went in for my follow up 3 months in and was told the new bone/graph wasn't hard enough yet and needed for time. *I was never told how much time or when to come back in. As Covid was roaring hot at this time, I didn't rush back in and dealt with some other pressing issues. When I do head back in 8-9 months later, they do a scan and say, the bone has started to deteriorate and not sure if they can use it. WHAT? I just spent thousands of dollars and we may not be able to use it? They then share (never previously) that the next step needs to happen within 6 months or the bone will start to deteriorate. I was never told that, never emailed/called to come back in, nothing. They tell me they can see if they can salvage it - send a scan to my dentist who immediately says no. I contacted Witcher's office to discuss a refund. After many attempts, I received one email back to which I responded to clarify some things and since, crickets. Unprofessional and if I had the time, I would pursue recourse.

I was traveling with my family to San Diego and had a dental emergency. My mother-in-law had met Dr. Dan and sent me his way. Following a consultation I was treated the same day. He was able to see me after his office had closed and his entire staff were amazing. I want to say thanks to Vanessa, Joe, and Nada for keeping my holiday going. Thanks again

This is as good as it gets! Dr. Witcher and his staff are very kind compassionate people, the office is clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Don't think twice about going there for care, it's as good as it gets!

Dr. Dan Witcher and the RN Joe were very professional and knowledgeable. They both took their time to thoroughly answer questions about my case and explained the procedure in a very clear and understandable way. Without thinking twice and before leaving my consultation, I immediately scheduled my treatment appointment. The day of treatment I arrived feeling a bit anxious but once I got into the room the staff was very welcoming and helped ease my anxiety. I knew I would be in good hands. I would recommend no place other than coastal oral and facial surgery. Best oral surgeon in San Diego!

Dr. Witcher and his team are INCREDIBLE. We saw Dr. Witcher for an emergency procedure for my daughter. We were able to get into his office right away, he went above and beyond answering all of our questions, giving us advice as far as how to proceed, and even personally called to check on our daughter's health over the weekend. We are VERY impressed and cannot recommend him highly enough!

Let me start out by saying all these good reviews for Dr Witcher are not fake news. The dude is legit. After a botched wisdom tooth removal by a dentist and a consultation with a different oral surgeon that didn't inspire confidence, I went to see Dr Witcher. He removed 3 wisdom teeth for me and I litterally had no swelling and barely took any pain killers due to a complete lack of pain. This guy is WAY good at what he does. Also friendly personalities across the board for all the staff. Couldn't imagine a better outcome. Wish I could get teeth removed everyday.

I am beyond happy that I came to see Dr. Witcher and his staff at Coastal Oral and Facial Surgery. I was in serious need of a tooth extraction and implant. I don't like dental and oral procedures period, but somehow Dan made the entire experience from consultation to procedure so easy and great. At all times I felt completely taken care of. All of the procedure and insurance coverage/cost was thoroughly explained and easy to understand. Dr. Witcher spent so much time explaining the treatment plan and really made me feel 100% comfortable. All said and done I wouldn't go to any other specialist. Ever. Thank you Dan, Jouet, Chris and Jarret and everyone else at Coastal!

Wow. Wow. Wow. I didn't know that having teeth removed could be such a pleasant experience. It was actually my 15-year-old daughter who had her wisdom teeth out last month, but we hardly knew that she had surgery. Her recovery was without incident. I certainly don't remember my wisdom teeth extraction experience (a few decades ago) being so easy. Dr. Witcher is very personable and professional as is his entire staff. They were timely and very clear with instructions and expectations during the entire process. I can't recommend them enough. You might be able to save a few dollars somewhere else (I don't know because I took our dentist's word that he is THE guy to do the work), but I'm confident that what you may save in a few $$, you'll make up for in pain and frustration. Neither were had with our experience with Dr. Witcher or his staff. I can't recommend Coastal Oral and Facial Surgery highly enough!

Had my wisdom teeth out here. They were amazing! I have a medical issue that required them to talk with my doctor first, and they were on top of it, worked with my doctor, no problems. Also, I thought I had dry socket, went in a week or so after my extraction, and so nice about it (I didn't have dry socket). One inclusive fee for everything, including the follow-up and unscheduled follow-up I had. SO nice.
