Dr. Jonathan Fu received his B.S. from the University of California at Irvine and D.D.S. from the University of Southern California. He went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency through the Lutheran Medical Center Hawaii program where he found his calling to be an Endodontist. He subsequently completed his residency in Endodontics at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio where he trained with the world-renowned Dr. Kenneth Hargreaves (author of numerous textbooks and editor of the Journal of Endodontics).
Dr. Fu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Only 20% of endodontists hold this designation and Dr. Fu is currently only one of two Board Certified Endodontists in all of SLO County. Prior to starting Coastal Endodontic Studio, Dr. Fu practiced for 6 years in Oahu as a partner at Aloha Endodontics. Dr. Fu holds himself to the highest standard and keeps abreast of the latest technology and literature to provide his patients with the finest quality care. He aims to provide comfortable and compassionate care for every patient. Outside of the office, Dr. Fu enjoys hiking, going to the beach and playing tennis with his family.
Dr. Nicole Chung is a native of southern California. She and her husband, Bret, have a two year old daughter, Ella. She earned her bachelors degree in Human Biology from the University of California San Diego. During her time at UCSD, she volunteered at a local community dental clinic which piqued her interest in dentistry. It was through this experience that she realized the impact dentists make in the community and strives to follow in these footsteps. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa, AZ. As a dentist, Dr. Chung completed a general practice residency at the University of California Los Angeles, where she received advanced training in hospital dentistry. Following this residency, she completed her advanced education to become an endodontist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Dr. Chung is committed to participating in community service activities and enjoys being involved in organized dentistry. She has volunteered to serve those in need at events such as Mission of Mercy, Love OKC, Give Kids a Smile, and international humanitarian mission trips. Dr. Chung is a Spears study club member, has previously served as a board member of the Oklahoma County Dental Society, and has completed the Oklahoma Dental Association Leadership Academy. As a result of these activities, she has been a past recipient of the UCSD Dan Kerschner Award, the ASDOH AAPHD Dental Student Recognition Award, the ASDOH Tami Hunger Community Health Award, and the AAE/DENTSPLY Resident Award.

Dr Fu and Marina have helped me with their kind attitude, their eye for the patients needs and their skilled specialism. I am super happy with the treatment they gave me and want to thank them and all the staff of the Endodontic Studio for the way they approach the patient.

Had a root canal done here and the whole staff was very kind and understanding of my dental anxiety. They made the whole experience the least stressful it could be with music, noise cancelling headphones, and a blanket. Obviously don't want to have to have a root canal again but if I did I know I'd be in good hands

I cannot stress this enough, these individuals seriously care about you. From beginning to end they will treat you like they've known you their whole life and I've never experienced that before.. I had some excruciating tooth pain, the team got me in the same day. My options were running out and they pulled out all the stops for me. Someone they just met. It felt like more than just someone doing their job. I felt seen and heard. My procedure was quick and successful and they took every single step to ensure I was comfortable and not in pain. They even fixed a bite issue! I'm beside myself at the care and compassion of this group. Thank you all SO much for everything, you're my heroes.

I had to have a root canal on my lower molar. Coastal Endodontic was recommended by my dentist. Coastal was able to see me and relieve my pain quickly. Dr. Chung was methodical, thorough, explained everything complete. Dr. Chung was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Procedure was smooth, no problems. Didn't need the gas, but feel like I missed out on an opportunity to try it... lol... Shocked at how easy it was. Thank you so much to Dr. Chung and staff! Highly recommend!!!

This was a fine oiled machine! The whole staff works together incredible. The treatment was absolutely painless and the technology was so cool! Watch a movie, listen to music the time went by so fast. The office was clean and beautiful. I would definitely recommend to family and friends!

My experience there was great. Dr. Fu explained everything, took his time, and was very reassuring. The staff exuded that same aura. Even the layout of the actual physical arrangement was really nice. When it was go time, I was asked if I needed any creature comforts; his assistant gave me a list. I asked if they had YouTube so I could listen to a Coldplay concert. She said she'd take a look. She then gave me some awesome noise-canceling headphones with great bass. We agreed that every once in a while they'd give me a couple of taps to check on me. Totally chill. Thumbs up!

My experience was amazing, especially during a time I was really suffering. Dr. Fu is exceptional in his profession. They care for you like you're part of their family. Unfortunately, I have needed several root canals, but this was my first time with Dr. Fu. I'll definitely go back, without question, if I need another one.
