Dr. Jonathan Fu received his B.S. from the University of California at Irvine and D.D.S. from the University of Southern California. He went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency through the Lutheran Medical Center Hawaii program where he found his calling to be an Endodontist. He subsequently completed his residency in Endodontics at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio where he trained with the world-renowned Dr. Kenneth Hargreaves (author of numerous textbooks and editor of the Journal of Endodontics).
Dr. Fu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Only 20% of endodontists hold this designation and Dr. Fu is currently only one of two Board Certified Endodontists in all of SLO County. Prior to starting Coastal Endodontic Studio, Dr. Fu practiced for 6 years in Oahu as a partner at Aloha Endodontics. Dr. Fu holds himself to the highest standard and keeps abreast of the latest technology and literature to provide his patients with the finest quality care. He aims to provide comfortable and compassionate care for every patient. Outside of the office, Dr. Fu enjoys hiking, going to the beach and playing tennis with his family.
Dr. Nicole Chung is a native of southern California. She and her husband, Bret, have a two year old daughter, Ella. She earned her bachelors degree in Human Biology from the University of California San Diego. During her time at UCSD, she volunteered at a local community dental clinic which piqued her interest in dentistry. It was through this experience that she realized the impact dentists make in the community and strives to follow in these footsteps. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa, AZ. As a dentist, Dr. Chung completed a general practice residency at the University of California Los Angeles, where she received advanced training in hospital dentistry. Following this residency, she completed her advanced education to become an endodontist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Dr. Chung is committed to participating in community service activities and enjoys being involved in organized dentistry. She has volunteered to serve those in need at events such as Mission of Mercy, Love OKC, Give Kids a Smile, and international humanitarian mission trips. Dr. Chung is a Spears study club member, has previously served as a board member of the Oklahoma County Dental Society, and has completed the Oklahoma Dental Association Leadership Academy. As a result of these activities, she has been a past recipient of the UCSD Dan Kerschner Award, the ASDOH AAPHD Dental Student Recognition Award, the ASDOH Tami Hunger Community Health Award, and the AAE/DENTSPLY Resident Award.
