Dr. Van Wie was born and raised in Ridge Spring, SC. After graduating from Newberry College with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1978, she moved to Charleston, SC, where she attended the Medical University of South Carolina Dental College. After graduating in 1981, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and started a solo family and cosmetic dental practice in Little River, SC.
Dr. Van Wie is an avid believer in providing the best and newest techniques available. Thus she has hundreds of hours in continuing education credits. She is certified by the Medical University of Georgia in IV Sedation, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Medical Emergency Management. Dr. Van Wie has also been trained at the prestigious Dawson Institute in St. Petersburg, FL in TMJ and reconstructive dentistry. She not only wants to provide the patient with great personal care but functionally aesthetic dentistry that enhances the entire face and personality of her patient.
She is a member of the South Carolina Dental Association, The American Dental Association, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and The American Academy of Implantology.

Chad is wonderful (and meticulous and awesome!!) I have also seen Brandi (I may have murdered the spelling of your name, sorry), and she is wonderful as well! Anxiety loves me as well and they are beyond understanding of that. I so much appreciate the entire atmosphere of this office. And, Dr. Dowdy is so kind; highly recommend this team. Thank you!

Coastal is the best in the Grand Strand. I've been seeing Dr. Dowdy for more than 20 years, and I have to say he's the most gentle, calming, and talented dentist I've ever been to. I'm 66 years old, so many of the fillings I got in my teen years have had to be replaced. Dr. Dowdy has never, ever caused any pain, regardless of how big the cavity. I've also heard only good about Dr. Van Wie, although I have never met her. I hope I never have to go anywhere else.

I just put my newly cleaned retainer on and it is wonderful! Brandi did a great job as she always does. Dr. Dowdy was so helpful and considerate and the staff goes the extra mile. I love my dentists and staff!
