TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.

During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.

In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.

Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.

Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

No dentist here. They do a zoom call to a doctor. I had an appointment at 3pm and asked me if I could come in earlier but I said no I have an appointment at 3. They then flat out said well the hygienist is leaving. I said well cancel all my future appointments then. What are appointments even for? Very unprofessional. Also they nag you multiple times about confirming appointments even after you already did on the phone or text. Very poor unclean and bottom of the barrel service. Stay away!

The staff was very caring and understanding to my needs. I had a lot of questions and they answered them all. I was a little nervous but they calm me down. Thank you for being patient with me

I would give a zero if possible I was rescheduled 3 times and had to wait over 3 months to get in because of this. Staff talked about another patients private information loudly right in front of me. Finally get in LATE not even on time. Go in the room and chairs are ripped, equipment is rusted very bad. Just looked horrible. No dentist on site at all had a 3 minutes meeting through a TV which I was never told I wouldn't see a dentist in person. Was expecting a cleaning at bare minimum and then then they walk in with a paper saying the cleaning ordered isn't covered by insurance and they want 200 dollars extra! Ridiculous absolutely horrible. Staff are not really professional at all either. Worst experience ever. It had already been more than 5 years stepping foot inside a dentist office but now because of this I probably never will again. Go somewhere else.

Scheduled a new patient appt because I needed to see the das because of a cavity or cracked tooth. Upon arriving - on time- I waited for 25 mins. Not understanding why as the 1st appt of the day I had to wait- asked the girl at the desk why Am I waiting to see the dds. She said we don't have a dds at this location- I was specific when making my appt that I needed to see the dds. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!

Tried them for the first time today. Receptionist had an attitude, the dental technician was barely legible behind her mask but hey it's just a cleaning so let's make the best of it. Nope. No dentist on site, which I already knew about, but we do a quick tele-doc conference where she tells me that my teeth look good (3 minutes tops), I agree and I explain that all I need is a cleaning. Dental tech comes back to have me sign the billing mid-visit (this is a first). X-Rays are covered by insurance and mumbles something about me needing to agree to pay an extra $188 for a deep cleaning and rinse process. I decline and explain that all I want is what's covered by my insurance. They refuse because the dentist ordered this. Fine let 's discuss it. 20 minutes later we finally get the dentist back online and she tells me that she won't authorize the cleaning I'm requesting and then tries to redirect me to the office manager as if that's going to change anything. So they basically get me in there, use up one of my two covered dental visits and they hand me a protocol with an up charge on a take it or leave it basis that they didn't bother to explain the rationale for during the consult. In the end, I got up and left. I'm down one covered visit and I'm confident that the dentist is still going to bill for the consult even though she didn't meet with me in person. This isn't the first time I've run into a scam operation but damn it's annoying.

Tammy is an excellent dental hygienist. She explained the procedures and gave an extensive narrative on how to care for my gums in the next 2 weeks. She truly is interested in keeping my teeth and gums in great health. Thank you, Tammy!

Had a 9:20 appt this morning. At 6:45 AM I got a text that it was 8:50AM . I called the office at 8:10 and the person took 5 minutes to verify that it was indeed 8:50AM. So I rushed to the Vero office and the gal there said said it was indeed a 9:20 AM appt. A computer issue I was told. Can you fix that ?? I broke speed limits to get from Sebastian to meet the new appt time . Also why did it take a clerk 5 minute to verify a false appt time?? So unsettling when I saw that when I got up the morning. The rest of the appt. went as expected.

Good place to go for dental cleanings. I was able to get a quick appointment; x-rays, and cleaning on same day. My teeth look great... thanks Coast Dental!!!

Had an appointment scheduled for over a month and they went ahead and cancelled it the day of without letting me know and said they gave someone else my slot. Staff was extremely rude and defensive when I asked for an explanation. They said that they cancelled it because I scheduled through the call center rather than calling the office directly and there was an error on the side of the call center. How is this true when she was aware of my appointment and knew my name...? She then said she tried calling me days ago, but I received zero communication from the office. Staff just tries to cover up their own negligence by gaslighting their patients. I wouldn't have even been upset if they didn't blame me for their own mistakes.

My 14 year old special needs granddaughter went in for x-rays and an evaluation. I was a little nervous how she would react and how the staff would handle her. Everything went perfect. There was a cancellation so she was able to get the cleaning at the same time rather than coming back. The hygienist and the assistant were so awesome with her. I was one happy grandma when we left. I highly recommend this office. We will go back in 3 months for a follow up regarding her gums. We also bought the recommended sonic toothbrush.

Tammy is very kind and professional. She goes above and beyond, what you might expect. She always complements, but is very tactful and constructive if change is needed.

This place is nothing but a money seeking establishment.....they weren't satisfied with my insurance paying for a cleaning....they wanted me to pay $159. Out of pocket for a deep cleaning....absolutely ridiculous.....all they care about is the almighty $$$$$.....I would rather have my teeth rot & fall out then to give them that money.....all these chains think about is money

Call and made an appt. For my 17yr old daughter at the St. Lucie West office. Explained she would need her wisdom teeth pulled and there Vero office does not have dentist. Had an appointment for 10am on Tuesday waited for 45 minutes to be told their dentist doesn't see anyone under 18!? Are you serious? I drove 45 minutes here amd waiting for another 45 minutes past my appt time. They tell me she can see a teledentist? How is that helpful when she needs teeth pulled? I would give a Zero if I could.
