TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

Started going to Coast dental last year, the people who did my cleanings and the dentist were great. The lady who answers the phone and the woman in billing are rude and for a lack of a better word "stupid". I decided to cancel my future appointments and find another dentist after several issues with billing and insurance. In the past few months it seemed they always sent me a second bill after performing work. They blamed the insurance company the insurance company blamed them. The last visit I had they reported more to the insurance company than what was actually performed. It took the billing department over three months to return my call to discuss the issue and when I finally was able to speak with someone about it the woman talked down to me and was disrespectful. Save yourself the hassle and find a better dentist to see.

These people are more concerned with billing their patients than they are with providing them dental care. The customer service is a nightmare. I shouldn't have to talk to someone in an Indian call center when I call my dentist.

I've gotten almost all of my dental surgeries here and they been ok. the problem isn't the dentist, he's awesome. it's the people in the front office. For some reason they have no understanding of customers service or general kindness. There are some new charges apparently that have never been there each time I've had surgery and instead of explaining it in detail as to why I am paying these new charges, she becomes rude and aggravated because I don't know what she's talking about. So I stayed silent and walked out because I don't have time for ignorance today but really take other people into consideration sometime will you.

The attention to detail and no pain policy in place was beautiful! X-Rays were quick and easy. The doctor was very pleasant and super friendly. The oral hygienist took great care of me. I'm very content with the overall cleaning results. Great staff, friendly atmosphere. Though I would recommend some ambiance music and perhaps a TV with positive nature views etc. I also miss my previous hygienist Narhalie; however, we all have personal goals in life and I'm sure she's simply climbing up the ladder of success. Other than that, amazing!

Absolutely the worst experience in a dental office, ever. The Dr. was arrogant, demeaning, and concerned only for money. The crowns I received are over-sized and look terrible.I am willing to bet that his "staff" are not qualified to treat patients. Additionally, the inept staff put me through collections, without ONCE contacting me. If not for not wanting to ding my excellent credit, I would take this clown to court!

This is my first visit at South Coast Dental, the staffs are nice ,friendly and helpful, especially the hygienist ,Miss Pravallika Kakulla and the support staff ,Miss Marwa Safa, they both have excellent service. Will recommend this Dentist to everyone

I was skeptical of them, so I went to a dentist highly recommended by my fiance and a few friends. When I mentioned my "stage 4" gum disease and multiple cavities, my new dentist looked at me like I had 5 heads. I had zero cavities and no gum disease. She asked where I went previously and when I told her Coast Dental, she wasn't surprised. Turns out she's had multiple patients come from them who were given false diagnoses in order perform unnecessary procedures to make money. I also paid for prescription mouthwash and cleanings every 3 months to "help my gum disease", where I had to pay out of pocket. I've opted out of their texts and emails on multiple occasions and I still receive them. DO NOT GO HERE.

The Dentist at Coastal Dental is excellent!!! He is very attentive to the needs of his patients. I was impressed by the way he took care and time to insure that my elderly mother's partials fitted comfortably. He also demonstrated for us the process of properly inserting and removing them while accommodating my request to record his instructions. The hygienist and other support staff also help make our visits pleasant.

Horrible went in to get my teeth cleaned and had one tooth of concern. They did a poor job cleaning my teeth and also told me that I needed a root canal which I did not understand as it did not even hurt so I went to get a second opinion and just like I thought all I needed was a first level filling. These people are just out to get money even if it means telling you you need something that you don't.

Dr. Kantwill was Great! He made sure I was numbed up! He explained what was going to be done. He had the Front desk call me to come in early as there was an opening! He went over the post-op instructions with me. He enabled me to relax and made it a Good Experience.
