TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

The Dentist, Dr. Gardener, is a dedicated professional. His assistants and office staff are bright and cheerful. They make every visit there a pleasure. I have been a patient there for about a year know, and every visit is looked forward to. The dentail work is almost painless and the work is done very efficiently. I'm so lucky to have found them for my needs. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a need for a quality dentist. Looking forward to my next visit.

The front desk ladies were extremely rude yesterday. I had a terrible experience. The manager there told me before I visited that I was just paying about $100 since I had a $1,200 credit on my insurance because the partial denture cost about $1,300. But when I went there for my partial dentures, the staff told me that I had to pay 1,300 to do the procedure . So I told them about it and that I had a credit of 1,200 dollars on my insurance . I asked for the manager, but she wasn't there. The two ladies there at the front desk were extremely rude. I told her to call the insurance but she refused, telling me to go home. I was asking for an appointment, but she refused to do it . No customer service skills at all . I drove there for 100 miles for nothing , wasting my time and my gas money . I'm really upset about the way that they treated me. I'm not going back to that location again.

I have been having dentures for over 40 years. This has been one of the Happiest experience that I have had with the most coolest Dentist. I felt no pain at all. Great people and service, both dentist and Endodontist helpful and the LISTEN. They continue to give excellent service. I am getting new crowns and a bridge! Recently I had root canal and extensive bridgework done at the Gateway branch of Coast Dental. The whole experience was made as pleasant and painfree as a visit to the dentist could be. Mike Stocci DDS and his staff was fantastic,especially Gina ,Kim,Sherri and Mary. They truly work together as a caring and highly professional team !
