TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

Nikki and the Surgeon are compassionate, patient, and kind. Both explained pros and cons for a procedure while educating me, which allowed me to make a decision about the treatment plan. Nikki provided therapeutic touch during the numbing process which was extremely helpful. I experienced professionalism and great patient care during an emergency extraction. Had alot of work done at this office. 10+ thousand dollars at this office. The prior dentist did not do what was promised for my detal issues. Then had to redo things because things weren't right...then i was passed onto or off to (or should I say my lively hood and mouth off to another dentist in this office) which was promised would be taken care of, (numerous times.... by phone call and a follow up appointment) but never received a response after realizing the issues the prior dentist accured ..All my documentation is in paper and the promise I received and money I spent will not go away. As a business owner we stand behind our service and get most of our work word of mouth, and always make things right. Will not recommend this dentist to ANYONE

I will never go back! I went in for a cleaning. They started with x-rays and then sat me in the chair waiting for the hygienist to start the cleaning. An hour and a half later, the hygienist still had not started my cleaning. I informed the man at the front desk that I was leaving and I needed to reschedule my appointment (1.5 hours is not acceptable). The man at the desk informed me they were aware that the hygienist is slow. I told him I wanted a different hygienist on my next visit. When I arrived for my rescheduled appointment, I asked the man at the front desk (same guy from above) if I was getting a different hygienist. He asked "which hygienist did you have the last time?". When I informed it was the slow hygienist, he responded "he's our only hygienist". If he's your only hygienist, why would you ask who I had the last visit. When I reminded the front desk guy of my previous visit, he stated "you had x-rays the last time, this will just be a cleaning". Clearly the front desk man remembered my first visit. So, in addition to wasting my time, the front desk lied to me. There are no shortage of dentists in the Sarasota area, and I will have no trouble finding a highly qualified dentist that will respect the time of their patients and will treat their patients with enough respect as to not lie to them. **UPDATE** After my two visits, I called Coat Dental and left a message asking an office manager to call me back. I never received a call. In fact, Coast Dental never responded until I posted a negative review. After Coast Dental replied to my review, I tried calling the number they provided. It lead to a voice mailbox that was full and wouldn't accept new messages. It is clear that Coast Dental does not care about resolving their issues or providing customer service. All they care about is looking like a concerned business while ignoring their patients. I gave them a 1 star review only because Google wouldn't let me give them no stars.

I went for a regular biannual cleaning. Met lovely man who said he was a dentist in NY and also does cleanings. He did spend a lot of time with paperwork, and then did an online consult with another dentist - not sure why, as I had no issues. His cleaning was fast and not gentle - in fact I have never had such a fast cleaning - but he did get rid of all my plaque and gave me numbing cream - which I loved. I think he really knows what he is doing - just wish the process didn't take so long - I was there for almost 2 hours!

So long story short - I had to Google for the Fruitville Sarasota location's address in order to make a claim. Which I further read some other peoples reviews. So I decided to write a review of this very sketchy practice. They sent me to collections after I TRIED calling them and leaving numerous voicemails at their headquarters in Tampa. Sarasota location voicemail is full - and could not leave any messages. I even emailed them SSEVERAL TIMES, BEFORE they sent me to collections! NO RESPONSE AT ALL, and mind you I received this service in September of 2021!!!!!!! THEY def dropped the ball and failed to file a claim with my insurance carrier I had at the time of x-rays. They lied and said they made a claim and they did not. Now I have to take time out of MY day to fill out all the documentation for the insurance to cover my $350 bill. Isnt that their job?! haha. What a joke.
