TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

The worst experience by far! I showed up for my appointment after my dental insurance has been already verified in call center when scheduling appt. They started by saying I'm giving the wrong card, then when I verified the card I asked them if they verified my ins yet. And they said it's not their responsibility and they only do it as a courtesy to patients. I said that I can't go for my appointment until my ins is verified, on which they replied that they won't be seeing me at all. I told them that I have infection in my tooth and was waiting for my appt for a while now, they replied that since I don't have the tooth ache I must not have the infection. Even though I have a referral from another dentist explain the situation with infection in my tooth. Absolutely disgusting!

Great experience, I dread to change dentist but I had to because of relocation of my residence. This company was able to take my insurance and provide me with great rates which was affordable (To Me). The hygienist was amazing and caring, she really brought the experience to a 10! Beware choose another dentist, I walked out of my appointment. Now struggling to get X-rays transferred to new dentist, don't want to pay twice. Also it's a virtual dentist. Staff was nice just not what I was looking for.

Dental office staff very good, courteous and caring. Dentist was very nice, & explained what he was going to do, so there were no surprises. Other than the needles that had to be used to administer the meds for numbing (I have never liked needles for anything other than sewing!), it was a longish, but successful, appointment. One more appointment in a couple of weeks to finish up and then we're done for several months.

My experience was great. Pablo and Keyla makes me feel very comfortable. My mouth is not an optimal condition, and they never make me feel bad because of that. I feel like im in the right place and on track to a better oral health.

Today was a deep dental surgical appointment.....3 connecting teeth with the middle tooth requiring removal. At my senior adult age this Ruskin clinic is attentive to my comfort and desire for long term dental care. The work took a few hours because it was going to be thorough in every way. Both the dentist and his dental assistance are very professional and experienced. Well done!
