TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

The customer service at Coast Dental in Ormond Beach is actually horrible, it always has and now you can't even get in touch with anyone. When you call to make the appointment it now goes to a call center that can't pull up the calendar to make the appointment. It took me 3 weeks to finally be able to make the appointment. My point and reason for the 5 stars isn't for the office it's for Dr Windom he is by far the best dentist I've ever been to in every aspect. Thank you for Dr for making me feel so comfortable, for taking your time with me always , and thanking you for dealing with my anxiety for pain, your so caring and compassionate when it comes to that which makes it 100 times easier and more comfortable. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be at Coast Dental anymore, your awesome thank you for everything!!!

Cleaning today. Hygienist was awesome. Offered numbing gel. Which I have never been offered before. Didn't need it. But it was nice to offer.

This is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. Took time to explain, procedures, so friendly ! The assistant was very knowledgeable, and sweet. So glad I went to Ormond! Definitely worth the trip.

Although it had been a very long since I had seen a dentist I was certainly surprised to hear that all I needed was a cleaning. The staff was very cordial. No one tried to sell me anything either.

This dentist is really really good. He is practical, he does not try to impress you with a lot of medical jargon, he wants the best for you and does not try to force you into doing things. He is also very smart and nice, I would totally recommend this dentist. His office staff is great too.

I informed my hygienist of a study of which I truly believe, and told her "I no longer wanted periodontal treatment". I agree teeth need to be cleaned, but all I want you to do from now on is a regular cleaning. I expected the worst but the hygienist just said, okay and gave me the paper to sign. One might think I would be given the cold shoulder from that point on, but the staff continued to be as warm and friendly as when I walked in. I'm sorry to say I can't remember my hygienists name but she was very knowledgeable, personable, and friendly. Thank you!

Ive been here before. I made an appt, waited 2 months and they called and rescheduled my appt two more months out. Finally get to my appt and they have me as a new patient. What a joke. Get it together people. Guess ill become a new patient somewhere else since Im not being seen for what my appt was supposed to be for. These chain dental places are no good.
