TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

I took my mother for the first time for a dental appointment. First in order to schedule her appointment was a great experience. When we went to the office, the staff was so friendly. The assistant that took mom's X-ray was super sweet and nice with mom. Dr. Basta was very professional and explain everything to me. I will recommend the office to anyone. Thank you. And definitely will go back to the dental office.

I do not recommend this doctors office at all the staff are not that nice the doctor apparently does not know how to do her job because she said that she pulled out my top teeth when she did not .. it was another dentist ..Then she pulled out a tooth that actually did have an infection behind it but then she didn't realize that I had an infection behind it and I had to tell her to give me antibiotics now I'm back for my I don't know fifth or seventh trip for the top plate dentures which is the only thing I came in for that I still do not have now because they do not fit and the dentist she actually wanted me to take them home today .. I told her I was not going to take the top plate home because it does not fit it falls out of my mouth without me even touching it this place is absolutely horrible not damaging the scheduling problem everything is always three weeks from the time they see you nothing is sooner...

If you want to wait around after your appointment to "zoom" with a dentist please visit this location. If you like to wait in a cold, dingy lobby, please make an appointment. If you want to find out that your dentist has been terminated from your insurance network after receiving a surprise bill in the mail, make an appointment. If you like requesting being the first patient of the day only to find out that you are somehow 5th in line please, make an appointment. I can't really say enough disappointing things about this place.

I bring my mother to coastal about 6 months,they did all the x- rays and they said she needs extractions to make a new denture.They take all her tooth out she can't even eat,they change the appointment 2 times because son issues with FedEx ,she loss 5 pound ready because she can eat nor solid food. I think is ridiculous I going to get all her records and going some places else.Terrible I don't recommend to no one.

I needed to find a dentist for my family of 3. Seeing as we all have different insurance. Coast Dental was the best choice. They accept many different insurances, provide payment plans. And are as family oriented as they come. All staff are so knowledgeable about it all. The service was amazing. I feel like I have a set of new teeth and look forward to my next appointments. For someone who was once so timid about going. Thank you Coast

I've always been a difficult patient. My mouth has always been small and difficult to treat. The doctor and the assistants were so kind. I love they speak Spanish there and really can't wait to return. The entire staff was super kind, respectful and helped alleviate normal desist anxiety. Dr. Caroline Basta was effective and great and my dental assistant was stellar. I'm lucky to have found them. No one unsold me on any unnecessary services.
