TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

Today I had a cleaning with Charlene the Hygienist, she did a great job, I would recommend this dentist and this loculation, she spent a lot of time with me explain what she was doing.

The front office staff is R.U.D.E. From the moment I walked in I felt I unwelcomed. I checked in for my appointment and the rude front desk agent said she texted me earlier in the day to reschedule. Well, I never received a text so I was there at the appointment time I originally scheduled (and received various email and text reminders for). They said they didn't have my insurance information, which I know I provided in my new patient paperwork I completed prior to arriving, but provided a second time. The front desk workers were so rude, I finally walked out! Beware - go somewhere else. I was luck to call Orange Park Dentistry and they got me in the same day and could not have been nicer. Try them out instead of Coast Dental!!

Don't waste your time this group is very shady the doctor listed on insurance hasn't even been there in a long time they also tried to charge me when I have a Medicare advantage plan for covered services I immediately called my insurance and they said that there should have been no charge they also canceled my original appointment with very little notice and then when I showed up for the rescheduled appointment took me to the back which was very unfavorable it looked and smelled bad and the floors were filthy they were also playing loud rap music out of an old style radio that I was made to sit beside which is not enjoyable for everyone! I found them to be extremely unprofessional and the fact that they tried to charge me for services that were covered is really Medicare fraud. The lady stated it was against the law for them to even run my insurance before I came in which again is untrue therefore I had no idea that they had planned to charge me extra and over my plan benefits. My original appointment was for a cleaning and at the appointment is when I found out that it was for only an evaluation so they could decide what type of cleaning I needed. I've never had issues with a dentist before and I've been with the same one my whole entire adult life 30+ years the only reason I'm trying to find a new dentist is because I moved from a different state. Save yourself the grief and don't go here for any reason when I called after speaking with the insurance and talked to Rashida she also was not very professional. I will follow up with florida blue and the dental association. No one wants to have the experience that I did here! Just awful!

I want to thank Resh-idda for her exemplary help with resolving a problem with my insurance company! She went above and beyond to make sure that I understood what was happening and that she would follow up on my concerns. The nurse and dentist were also very helpful and made sure I was comfortable with my exam!

Started pleasantly. Had an appt here, day before appt they call and tell me they have no dentist. The day before! Gave me info for San Jose location, the exact thing happened!! How do you guys have dentist offices but no dentist? Now I've had to book 30 min away in jullington Creek, in hopes the same thing won't happen again the day before, literally taking me months for a cavitie... Unfortunately this the only place that accepts MCNA dental

I recently had my teeth cleaned by Erica Smith. She was not only professional she was friendly without being to chatty. There is nothing worse then a technician asking questions when they are working in your mouth. Kanisha was also great, said I had a credit, I didn't need to pay. Made my day.

Not a place to go back to. Been here before staff was somewhat friendly but then careless.was going to walk in yesterday to make appt for cleaning. The front desk girl was arguing with another girl outside in front of the building. A man walked out shaking his head. Very unprofessional. I'll just go somewhere else.

Office staff were very courteous, and professional! The dental assistant, Lizzy was just the sweetest! Made me very comfortable, actually cared, and was very knowledgeable. The dental hygienist Charlene was the absolute BEST!! Very beautiful being, both in and out. Super professional, experienced, and also really cares about the patient! I will now only have Charlene to do my periodontal cleanings! The only reason I gave 4 stars was because the Dr. that was there, had just left on Friday, and no dentist was in office for my appointment, and I wasn't made aware prior to arriving. Though, they did have a TeleDr. come up with a dental plan for me.
