TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

The staff here are very helpful and informative. I have had been dealing with Coast for many years now in other locations. This was my first Ocala visit having just moved to the area. Coast has made great efforts to do the right thing for me by trying to remedy the mistakes of a very untalented dentist that left my mouth a disaster, a very expensive one at that. My case is very difficult and challenging and I have suffered embarrassment and pain for years. I hope and pray that Coast Dental corporate office will allow the Ocala office to put things right for once and for all. I have a good impression of the Ocala team and would love to give them a five star review when finished.

Let me start with the ladies at the front have been very nice and respectful.. Now as for the dentist which apparently he is the only one. I had an appt in Feb, had my cleaning, which hurt but the asst that did it set up another appt for the Dr to check a tooth that was very painful,, anyways.. I went in today and when he came in he asked about my teeth, I told him my teeth hurt, i can not eat or drink anything cool it is so painful he checked them and told me to change my toothpaste! I have 5 teeth that are bad and need to be pulled. Now they want me back in next month for another cleaning , i just had one and my insurance will not cover another one. This is ridiculous. UPDATE: I called, what a absolute joke. You need better Drs who actually care! He has me listed for a cleaning every 4 months, my insurance does not cover this, he also has it that I floss 1x day, brushing 2x a day! Well Duh It hurts to brush my teeth now. This is absolutely ridiculous!

I'm so glad that I transferred from the Crystal River office to the office here in Ocala. Ms. Wanda is the best and the front desk ladies are wonderful also. Dr. Fox extracted my tooth almost as painless as possible. Over experience here at the Ocala office is great!!

I was put off by the wait, but everyone apologized for it when I left. Once I was taken back , everybody was friendly and informative. There were no surprises. I have to have dental work and now I know exactly what to expect! Back today for deep cleaning! Olga was great!! Thanks Coast Dental! I highly recommend Coast Dental to anyone!!
