TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.

During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.

In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.

Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.

Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

This place owes me over $800 in refunds for work that they have not done. It has been eight months and they've been giving me the runaround regarding my refund. Although they promised to refund me, they have not done so. This all happened because I am a cash pay Client and they charged me upfront for all of the services that I received. I paid over $3500 for services over a few months time and never received the final service which was a crown that was supposed to be put on my tooth. The dentist has since retired, there is no chain of command or anyone who seems to be able to assist.

BEWARE of this location. I went to this location on 05/20/21 for a deep cleaning. Total charge $814. (Based on their policy, my insurance supposed to cover 1/4 of this charge) My responsibility for the remaining charge was $558. After reviewing the charges I decided to cancel a follow up due to their billing department being irresponsible on the charges. (I was over charge from a previous visit with no explanation, as well as being charged for a COVID charge...) I called repeatedly to get a credit in which I am owed. My insurance contact them as well to request for copies of my x-rays, & a breakdown of the services that were provided, they never responded back to my insurance company, nor myself. Spoke to a woman name Shannen (Billing Mgr) several times (10X) trying to resolve the billing charges as well. . I still have not received a courtesy call back. Called the corporate office as well, left a message on the Patient relations voicemail in regards to this location. No one called me back either. Two months later, I am paying for a service that I never received. These people doesn't have the courtesy to return patient phone calls, as well charging people for services they never receive. If you want ok service, and you don't mind wasting your time and money, visit this location. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. ***FOLLOW UP**** After 11 months of the first review, and the run around from Coast Dental, I have not received my refund. I was due a refund from an overpayment for deep cleaning. Here are the names of people I have spoken to, Shannen, Rhonda, Patient Assurance (4 times) and my file was escalated to the Regional Manager for this location. As of today, I have not received ANYTHING from this location. This business lack basic etiquette (communication, professionalism, and decency) to assist any patients who patronize their business. If you a consumer who wants to be treated with the utmost respect, & time please go somewhere else where you will be treated well. I will see Coast Dental in court!

This entire dental center is highway robbery. They bill us for the things they advertise as complimentary. They charged my insurance, I paid out of pocket and then got billed again by mail. They extort people insurances if I was you I'll stay completely away!

At the Lake City office, I had a large filling put in my teeth. First, Coast Dental staff always greets me by name. Second, the dentist treats me with care. Finally, its close to my home. It does charge high prices for care.

My first time here and I had a great experience.. from the front desk to the back.. very professional staff and Dr Katz pulled my tooth and I didn't feel any pain.. I recommend this office to everyone!!

This was my first visit. I have been going to the dentist since I was a toddler. Every visit I've been nervous. This visit was no exception. Upon entering the parking lot, there were designated parks for dental customers. That was a plus. Entering the office I was greeted by a friendly and professional front office. The waiting room was clean and well organized. The wait was not long at all, even though, I arrived early. Each staff that provided service for my dental care was outstanding. Every procedure was explained. The hygienist and the young lady that took my X-Rays made me feel comfortable. This caused me to calm my nerves. They were both friendly, respectful, attentive , and professional. I scheduled my next appointment before leaving. Thank you, Coast Dental, for a job well done!!!

Staff ladies where lovely, but I needed a nice dentist after he shot me with Novocaine at the roof of my mouth, after he pulled my two teeth I thought my leg was sleep, but when I got home I could not move my leg, I am still waiting for a email response couldn't leave a message. When I was told my out of pocket was $400 I should have left, but they lowered it to $100 but total bill was $1,191 to pull 2 broken teeth one just fell out after he touched it. Now my insurance is will make me pay for service I need shame on you coastal dental

(No stars for all the stress)Where do I begin I started going to the Morrow/Lake City location 10/2019 in 8/2020 there was a new office manager. I had a procedure done paid my required amount outside of my insurance and a year later I received a bill for that amount of money I paid. I went to that office the office manager Will at that time submitted the incorrect codes for billing and he was supposed to resubmit it, we'll Will was no longer shortly after that. So, again I get a bill I went to the office on 3 different times trying to resolve the issue as to what was going, also the bill was 862.00 which wasn't the portion that insurance was supposed to pay. The office manager never called me I left copies what was explained as my amount to pay also the insurance amount and receipts. Still nothing now they sent the bill to a collection agency ( I work hard to maintain a excellent credit score )I sent information to them and now they have fabricated charges (fraudulent charges if you ask me) which are not what was initially agreed upon. I have now filed a complaint with my insurance company on Coast Dental of Morrow Hopefully I want have to get an attorney. Coast Dental management understand this you have made a great dentist look bad (Dr. Katz does great work but the office staff will make you think twice) Lack of submitting accurate billing and lack of communication. I would never intentionally get services that I was not able to pay for. My procedure was planned and scheduled accordingly. This office is now on their 4th office manager.
