TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

Scam. Horrible experience. Inhumane.My friend HAD TO HAVE TWO teeth pulled, instead of one, as they made him wait and wait , until the cavity spread to the next molar. All to get more $.That's cruel! They try to overcharge; $700 to pull a tooth! The one in SUNTREE is the worst ever. Btw, folks with cavities or other dental problems are not trash, they deserve to be treated kindly and with respect. A few years ago, while I was in the dental chair!, an employee entered and tried to raise the price! Bullying! Harassment. I walked out. Front desk Diane is EVIL. I begged for humane treatment for my friend; also I pleaded with the ins. co. She looked at me with hatred each time. I think she must be getting a commission of each scam. Why doesn't the Dental Society help us? About 15 years ago, the Coast on Merritt Island made my then 80-yr. old Mom WAIT 3 hours for a cleaning. How dare they?! Any good review must be from a relative. Oct. 11, I spoke with a woman who left the EVIL Coast Dental on Merritt Island. Her husband said that she was in terrible pain; needed a root canal, and THAT PLACE WANTED HER TO RETURN IN NOVEMBER! There's more proof that they are cruel/inhumane and stupid. How can they still be in business?! IF you have insurance that forces you to go to Coast, CHANGE IT!

I wish I would have read the reviews on this place. A definite scam and I am making sure to file it with my insurance. They charged me for a "gingivitis cleaning", which isn't covered by insurance apparently. I listened to the lady lie about my gum numbers in order for them to proceed with this scam Then they tried to include a $100 toothbrush in the bill. I had to deny multiple things in order to get my bill down to $200 out of pocket. They tried to tell me that sealants for the back teeth are $76 a tooth, when my insurance covers it. Not to mention they still haven't sent the bill to my insurance yet. Don't let the nice front desk lady entice you. Never going back.

Came here today to get my teeth checked and cleaned for the very first time! Front desk were friendly. Marina did a great job with my cleaning. The lady assisting with my dental x-ray forgot to put my radiation apron which I did not like and take it seriously. I hope next time it doesn't happen again.

Don't just walk away from this place, RUN! It's an infomercial. They refused to clean my teeth unless I agreed to purchase all their unneccessary products. I agree with an earlier post. This place is a money making scam. I would have given it no stars if Google let me. Stay away!!!

This was my first visit with Coast Dental. All of the staff members were so nice and my initial paperwork was available and reviewed prior to my appointment. My X-rays and dental exam was quite thorough and I was surprised at all the state of the art equipment that was available for diagnosis. Much thanks to my dental hygienist and X-ray technician who made me feel at ease and explained everything and answered all my questions. All collected data including X-rays and measurements of teeth etc were submitted to the dentist who reviewed and discussed the plan of care with me. Before I left both secretaries had printed my appointment schedule and answered all questions regarding health history cost of treatment and medications . They were thorough, explained the process and procedures effectively, and even made sure to clarify the price and what was or wasn't covered by my insurance! I knew my gums were receding and gum disease runs in my family, so I wasn't shocked by what needed to happen. I was glad to be able to trust them! Would recommend. The front desk receptionist was so incredibly kind, as well as my X-ray tech! Yulia was my dental hygienist and she was so courteous and literally stopped during the procedure when I got too sensitive and even to get me a cup of water when I mentioned I was thirsty. Like family! It was a good experience!

Easy to check in and out. Very pleasant and professional employees. Waiting room is clean and set up for social distancing. Got in quickly to see the Dentist. Overall it was a good experience (if you can have a good experience at the Dentist).
