TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.

During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.

In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.

Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.

Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

The only dental appointment I have ever had where it was totally painless, and what makes it more impressive is that it was an extraction of a broken tooth. I received about 6 shots and the way it was done, I never felt anyone of them.

Everyone was just so nice to the point that it didn't seem real. They were professional and thorough. Explained every detail of my procedures to come and in an order of priority. Love this place

It's been a while since I have visited this office and my last times during COVID was not favorable. Yesterday was a definite change. Mrs. Joyce has returned and she definitely adds some professionalism and stability! So happy for her returned! The new dentist, Dr. Bruno was very nice and thorough. And thank you Kennedy you were so nice! You truly tried to make my experience bearable with the X-rays! I will return to the office. It is going through some upgrades and if you have patience I am sure you will be pleased!

As I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and a welcome by the receptionist. The office was spacious and pleasant. Everyone there was very cordial. The technician who took me back went over details of care that I should be doing at home. She was very thorough and friendly. Dr. Quinn examined my tooth and in detail gave me options of treatment. I could not have had a better visit.

Worst dental office I've ever had to work with. The dentist herself was nice, Dr. McCulla, but she left the practice suddenly without any explanation given after our first appointment. Wonder why. Even a year later, the answering machine still has her name on it and the message cuts off in the middle. The hygienist was also good. However, you need to be able to contact the office first and that is so difficult! 3 or 4 times my son's appointment was cancelled the morning of the appointment as "the shipment did not come in" ??? There was a mysterious extra fee that I got charged for after I paid the full bill and they would not answer the phone to explain the charge. Never going back there!

This location has gone to hell in a hand basket since COVID. I was nearing the end of my coastal aligners treatment. They lost my retainers. We noticed we needed new trays as not all teeth aligned as expected, so we took new impressions for new trays. During this time, they removed my buttons. This was in DECEMBER 2021!!! It's now July and I haven't heard from them nor will the answer or return my calls. I've been calling and leaving messages for 2 months. Now, a lawyer is getting involved. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Horrible customer service, unprofessional, and extremely disorganized!

Made an appointment, took off work, only to be told the Dr wasn't in because he does not work on Mondays....then why did you all book my appointment for a freaking Monday. I'm getting all the alerts that confirmed my appointment then get there at they say I didn't have one....such a bad thing. Never going back.

Worst I ever seen this type of service. My appointment rescheduled three times with reasons like assistant not available and material is not available. And they call just 30 mins before the appointment to reschedule this. Very bad experience I have....I never recommend this to anyone.

For new customer cleaning was not done even in 2nd visit, they will insist you to do all xtra xrays and stuff which is not covered in insurance and then sent to collections which will post on your credit. They say we will cover it but they do not. Billing dept will say this is wrongly charged but still they send to collections. Really. DO NOT GO THERE NEW CUSTOMERS,,, THEY DO THIS IN ALL PLANNED WAY WITH EVERY NEW CUSTOMERS. THEIR PRACTISE IS NOT WORKING. VERY FEW CUSTOMER COME AND THOSE WHO COME THEY TRY TO GRAB ALL MONEY THEY CAN BY OVER BILLING. IF YOU DONT PAY IT WILL BE SEND TO COLLECTIONS. ULTIMATELY YOU HAVE TO.. BILLING DEPT WILL NOT EVEN TALK TO YOU. IT'S ALL CONTROLLED BY THE DENTIST/OWNER OF THIS LOCATION.

First of all, look at yelp and not google. 1.5 stars on yelp. That tells the real story. I scheduled an appointment because I moved and needed a new dentist. They were listed on my insurance as close by which is important in the Atlanta area. I gave my insurance information and was later called and asked to come in early for my appointment because they had a cancellation and I did. Filled out forms and then was surprised when they told me when the appointment began that they had to do special X-rays that the insurance wouldn't cover in order to do the new patient exam. I hadn't done X-rays this year so insurance covers X-rays but not this special kind. Hahaha! I told them I've been going to the dentist since I've had teeth, twice a year, routinely and never have been charged out of pocket for special X-rays. So I know an exam can be done proficiently and professionally without your add on charges. They tried to explain it by saying they were ahead of the curve versus what insurance covered but if you saw this dump of a place you'd know that to be a lie. I was previously with a fancy buckhead dentist office that was light years ahead of this place. They then concluded they couldn't properly do the examine without me paying them out of pocket for the charges so I walked out. I need everyone to know, you have options. Don't settle for businesses trying to manipulate you into services you don't want or need. And ask them to be upfront and not waste your time by waiting until you already took the time off for the appointment. Terrible business. Surprised they haven't closed down. There were no other patients in there.

I went to their office for the first time for cleaning , they said we have to do x-rays first. They found out from my insurance that x-rays will not be paid by insurance as xrays were not due yet as they were done last yr. So I wanted to leave. Dentist said no worries "it's just digital thing" in order to establish you we will not charge for x rays and will not bill you for this visit. I could have transferred the x-rays from other dentist as I moved from other state. I said ok thank you and x rays were done but no cleaning was done. I was asked to setup another appt for cleaning. Later on I found out that they send the charges to my insurance for the first visit and only small portion was paid and now they are demanding balance of $215 from me. I was not supposed to be charged as per dentist. I was also given paperwork on the visit which said 0 balance for that visit. I shouldn't have trusted the dentist and walked out of their office. I made a big mistake going to them. After I got the response from the owner, I called the office and explained the situation. Over phone they accepted that there was an error at their side and told me that i will not receive any more bills and they will correct it. But still last week also I got another bill for me and my wife (same mistake) and a final notice letter that me and my wife's account will be turned over to the collections. Seriously I can't imagine its true, I have paper work showing 0 balance for the visit and same I will give to collections if they contact me. These people are really harassing me and dishonest and unprofessional at all. I am glad that I kept the paper work for last 8 months otherwise I have to pay it. What you do if people like dentist are lying to you and make false promises. We cannot record their statements on their face to prove what they said verbally. I think I should contact attorney now to see what are my rights and to have legal opinion on this matter.

I had a great experience at Coast Dental Sprayberry. Dr. McCalla was very informative about my care and she is very patient and knowledgeable her chair side behavior was awesome . Chianti is amazing with her care and Gabby is very nice as well. Brandy the Office Manager was very nice and accommodating to scheduling me for treatment and Julianne was very pleasant answering the phones. The Sprayberry Team is A-1.

My dental health and home care have been important to me since I was a child. My first dentist was my Grandfather; then came my Uncle and Aunt; later it was my cousin and his wife. I have a pretty good sense for quality care when I experience it. Since about 2008, Dr. Michael Quinn has been my dentist & periodontist, and he's the best practitioner I've experienced in 69 years. Coast Dental moves their providers around to different offices as their market and demographics change. I've followed Dr. Quinn to four different locations and he elevates the team spirit and general quality of care wherever he works; I see how hygienists go out of their way to meet his high standards. He's now at the Coast Dental Sprayberry office in Cobb County working his magic. It's well-worth the drive from Buckhead to see Dr, Quinn. -Doug Pratt
