TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

The entire staff was so incredibly nice, patient, and accommodating. The doctor took her time to sit down and give an in-depth breakdown of everything. Service was swift, with very short periods of wait time. I'd definitely recommend!

I'm 66 years old and been to many dentist, this was the least painful dentist I've been to, Dr Gu has such a great personality and really makes you feel heard and respected. I won't be going anywhere else for dental treatment. I've found my forever dental home.

My son had stitches from oral surgery he got out the country that needed to be removed. No one would do it. I called so many oral surgeons and his own dentist. I even went to urgent care. Coast Dental did it in 2 Minutes flat no questions! Professional and Caring. I really appreciate them.

Please do not price Gouch the patients The Dentistry is very good but Your first desk people has the worse customer service skills, ever seen. I worked in healthcare and handle customers please retrain your staff on customer service skills. I will report this visit to bcbs dental insurance, corporate office and better business Bureau.

I'm so satisfied. This my 6th month deep cleaning and when I tell you Anne, Hygienist did a thorough wonderful deep cleaning is a under statement! I'm so happy with the service, professionalism and care. I look forward to the filling and treatment plan with the Periodontist. I changed my location from Conyers to Lawrenceville. I'm Happy!

I had an extraction this morning 9 am, I was given a paper prescription to go to the pharmacy. I went to my regular pharmacy Walmart and the pharmacy noticed that the was too much ( take 1 tablet of Amoxiciline every 3 hours) so the pharmacist called the dental office to fix the dosage amount. The dental office phone goes always to voice message, he left messages, then called back several times and no one pick up the phone. I came back to the pharmacy and the pharmacist called again the dental office, still no one pick up the phone and he left messages again. I tried to call myself and left messages and still nothing. It is so sad that I cannot have any antibiotic after getting a tooth removed, only because apparently the dosage might be incorrect. Not only that, no message was returned at all, not even my message, not even the pharmacist message, so I have no antibiotic since my tooth was removed since 9 am this morning. It give me the impression that it is a factory where patients are packed and every body is so busy to even returned a patient or a pharmacist phone call. I do not even know if tomorrow someone will be able to pick up the phone. What a disaster.

The staff at this establishment are very kind and friendly. The young lady who took my X-rays of my mouth was very gentle and took her time taking care of me. Definitely can't wait to my next visit.
