TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

Today I had a much delayed (MY AVOIDANCE) appointment with Coast Dental. The staff were extremely helpful and because I did not have insurance yet they gave me the option of paying or rescheduling. I was very glad to have the option and did fund my x-rays but then they showed me how to go about getting dental insurance.... for someone on Medicare it's important that we don't neglect our teeth.... I am very glad I started getting back into the dentist and because of the gentle care I was given I will continue with Coast Dental.

This place is amazing! They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and make sure you are aware of everything they are doing every step of the way. If you have anxiety about dentistry this is the place to go

10/20/2022 I thought I received very good service; and I'd like to visit Coast Dental in Lake City, FL again. I will be making another appointment to have my teeth cleaned in a few weeks. I also enjoyed the office building/location. Their office also had items like mouthwash, toothpaste and electric toothbrushes with UV sanitizers for purchase. I could use my Wellcare Flex card to purchase these. It has been awhile since I had a visit to the dentist; and I had an exam and x-rays. I'm glad that I had a good experience there today.

Professional and very friendly....I highly recommend this office. Not a fancy office setting but the staff makes up for the aesthetics. The only reason I gave a 4 is because there is no dentist on staff at the moment.

Staff was terrible, treated me poorly because I didn't have money for stuff that I wasn't there for and coast takes my insurance. They didn't do the X rays right, counted the spaces in between my teeth and left my gums bleeding afterwards. They did not have a dentist and told me they can't do any dental work until they had one. My tooth had been cracked for a year. (Went last year in may, unforgettable experience). Find a freaking dentist. You can't even help pull a tooth without a dentist. Soon or later I'll take it out myself.

Great place. Great dentist! Update: this place no longer has a dentist. But the staff is still there and they are great. This is why it went from a five-star to a three-star... No dentist in house. I also noticed that you don't comment about negative reviews NOR answer the obvious question about not having a provider on site. Damn shame, great staff. Patients and staff deserve a response!
