TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

Coughed one time in the office it was automatically assumed that I had Covid, after a note from my primary MD, whose office I had just left, still refused. Asked if any of them had covid. How do I know if they are not spreaders? I have COPD and have a chronic cough. This is rediculous. Will not return and will make sure my elderly friends with chronic lung issues to find another dentist. Maybe they should have rapid test on site.

I always have a great experience here at Coast Dental. My hygienist, Suneeta, is actually a dentist from India, working on her certification here! She is extremely thorough in her work! She clearly explains what is going on and the importance of following through on my part of the treatment plan at home! New receptionist, Angel, is a Navy vet and now Reservist! She is lovely in looks, bearing, and attitude! Very helpful!

Got a fill in here not even 2 years ago... now I have a hole in my tooth again. Fill ins are suppose to last 5 years right?? Yeah went through all that just to have the stuff chip away & my hole back . Making it difficult to eat again. I'm glad I never came back. I didn't even care for the doctor . It was some guy, don't even remember his name... don't think he ever introduced himself. The ladies at the front desk was awesome though and super sweet to me every time I came in. And whoever did my deep clean did really good and was nice.

I truly enjoyed my visit yesterday. The staff took care of me and my mouth feels amazing. The hygienist is very good at her job. I'm happy to be back with Coast Dental.

Highly recommend that you have the dentist's at Coast Dental be the go to for all of your dental needs!! When I say I've NEVER felt so comfortable sitting in the dentist chair having something as simple as a cleaning explained to me & enjoying myself. Suneeta, Misty & the front desk staff were AH Mazing!! I felt at home or like I've known them for years!! I'm happy with my new trays to straighten my teeth that I got after my cleaning!! I'm super excited & the way they made me feel I can't even explain it!! Thank you for being kind to your patients & treating them like family!! In all my 42 years on earth, I've never been to a better dental practice!! Thanks Coast Dental!!
