TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

These guys are great. I am one of those people that are scared of the dentist, growing up in the 80s with all the wonderful horror movies to scar you for life. But the Dentist I seen here, Dr Gary; was a down to earth normal guy that made you feel like you were talking with a friend. He explained everything where I could understand what my best options are to fix my issues.The two girls working with him , Mary and Sucelle were like mind readers, they were ready with what ever the Doctor needed without saying a word. They had all of us ( my three children and myself) taken care of and done within a little over an hour. "Which is a miracle in my eyes". They even told me about the stuff they use and how to use it myself at home to whiten my teeth. I have never been so happy with a Dentist office in my life. I am actually looking forward to my next appointment to work on getting my smile back. Thank you guys.

Made an appointment for myself, and my daughter. It took months to get the appointment. Days before the appointment, they called to say they don't see children. Okay... Then, the receptionist goes on to explain that a hygienist would look at my teeth and x-rays, at the first visit and call the dentist on TELEHEALTH! HA! The dentist is not even in the office. DO NOT GO HERE...I immediately cancelled, as when I asked if they try to upsell, or if I would be able to get a basic cleaning, the woman clearly got flustered and detailed that some patients need more cleaning, yada yada. When I tried to ask, will I be able to get a basic cleaning, as covered by my insurance, she said, "I'm unable to answer that." As the receptionist, she doesn't even know if patients coming into the office can get a basic cleaning...BEWARE go elsewhere! The upsell here is ridiculous...plus the dentist is VIRTUAL!

Don't like being upsold during a routine cleaning, the first half of my new patient appointment felt like I was on the receiving end of a sales call. Also the "new patient appointment" is an exam full of out of pocket charges. Cleaning is not included in this exam typically, which was the only reason I was interested. I questioned this and the hygienist was kind enough to squeeze me in. At the end I received a $275 bill, which I questioned and found several incorrect items, final charge $136. Which was fair for a new patient and I was told about the extra charges for things like numbing gel and a fluoride paste. Just a warning, make sure you check the itemization. Aside from that, hygienist was awesome. Dentist was only available via Telehealth which was a bit concerning. Only after she stated my photos didn't come through entirely, which means my aok diagnosis might be missing some facts.

Worst dentist office I've ever been to. The dentist was presented on a large screen via Zoom to look at my X-rays, without being there in person to do a thorough job. No one could diagnose a cavity I obviously had. They said << you might have a cavity, but we can't diagnose it. >> they gave me no next steps to solve the cavity. they charged me $30 additional dollars during a cleaning, because they said it would be painful if they cleaned my teeth without me purchasing a numbing fluid. And every time I call the office with a request, such as to send my X-rays to a different dentist, they always hang up on me with a promise to call back, but they never call back. This dentist is the last place you want to go to. Definitely do not recommend.

Sucelle was kind and professional. I felt comfortable with her from the moment I met her which in a dentist office is definitely a plus. I ended up needing a much deeper cleaner and she adjusted her schedule to be able to get in done to not prolong the cleaning. She clearly takes her job seriously and shows she cares for her patients. In general, I do Not like dentists, lol. My last experience, pre-pandemic, was with a new doctor, at another practice, who walked into the room, stuck his fingers in my mouth, and never once introduced himself. Needless to say I had not been keen on going back to the dentist post pandemic. I was happily surprised by this office! Everyone was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Things were explained to me, a plan was made, and everyone possible is in the works to help with the financial aspects. Imagine my horror, on SSI and Medicaid, to find out what isn't covered. The office staff was so kind and helpful, working on a payment plan. A great start to my new dental care team! THANKS!

Never go to this place!! I scheduled and appointment for May 19th, which was a nightmare to schedule because they won't answer the phone. It is a pian to get a hold of them. After I called to reschedule because they canceled the original appointment they try to reschedule me for the same day (May 19th) at the same time they where trying to cancel. I'm so glad I canceled with them. Always read the reviews.
