TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.

During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.

In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.

Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.

Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

Sent me to collections!??? I went in for a cleaning. Since I'm new to town wanted a dentist close to me. They took X-rays and did the normal check of my teeth.. told me I needed a deep cleaning... wanted to charge me more then $1000. When I went to the front to check out told them I wasn't going to do the deep cleaning, but paid my co-pay for the X-rays. Drove two hours to my dentist, he told me a absolutely didn't need a deep cleaning after he and his staff did their check. Then again I've been going to my dentist since I was 8 yrs old and my dentist is truly amazing (captivating dental)i didn't pay since they offer free cleanings. a month later I got a letter from costal dental that I was in collections for X-rays I got done with them. I called to clarify that I paid. Always busy, and voice mail was full.. Concluding that they just are out to rip people off! BEWARE!!!

The Gladiolus office, doctors and staff was very professional and helpful. The Cape Coral office was the total opposite. We will recommend the Gladiolus office, but not the Cape Coral office. Thank you.

This was the worst experience for a professional dentist office, my 12 year old went for a 6 month basic cleaning and has never had issues, his gums are a little red and swollen from lack of flossing, they have improved in the last week from flossing and brushing more. They tried to tell me that he needed $231 dollars in whatever type of cleaning the doctor recommended that included injecting an antibiotic under the gums etc. I stated that I just wanted him to have the basic cleaning that is covered by insurance and they refused to do it. We won't be back, nothing worse than feeling like you are getting cheated.

I had a true dental emergency on a Friday. Historically many dentist offices are closed on Fridays. I spent more than an hour calling offices but no one could help me... one of my front crowns had fallen out. I had the crowns over 20 years. I could not wait for offices to open on Monday. I am scheduled for orthopedic surgery the following week. After several false starts, I finally found Dr. Cabot at Coast /Gladiolas. You can't imagine how relieved I felt to finally find someone who could help me. Angela, the dental assistant knew how anxious I was about my situation. She was like an angel, assuring me that they could do the simple job of re-cementing the crown to the post left in place. Dr. Cabot was perfect! Did the job in a matter of minutes. I had never been to this office before, but because of the way this staff treated me, I am considering making it my permanent resource. A big thank you to all the staff, especially Angela and Dr. Cabot!

It would have been much better have they been on time for my appointment my appointment was at 1:00 and the doors were locked and I stood outside for 30 minutes and kept calling coastal dental and finally one girl found out that they were at lunch and they would be back in 10 or 15 minutes well they were 10 minutes late to my appointment that did not make me happy first off I don't stand long very well but the other parts of it was great there was no problem the dentist was fine the assistant was fine but I did not appreciate having my appointment 10 minutes after it was supposed to be it started and being how my other two incidents with coastal dental did not go well because one that's your office your equipment was down when I came from my appointment so I made an appointment there on summerlin and they put a note in their door but very equipment was down the day of my appointment and nobody was there so you're right I am a little bit unsatisfied without the operation runs but not with the dentist or the assistant they did a great job

Absolutely ridiculous this place is below any exceptable standard even below standard. The office billing person need to take her hear out of her... well they keep billing me for something that is plainly not on my bridge. The billing girl needs to talk with the dentist doing the work. He said he talked with them after not getting my crown fixed right three time. Then someone dropped my bridge and bent it. They should be responsible for the damages. I just don't want anything to do with Coast Dental Gladiolus. I will just get it repaired somewhere reputable. This place is not. I have heard four other people complaining and the office girl told them they can go somewhere else. Yes after your office messes up. This place doesn't even know what your scheduled for. Two time I went in for a scheduled extraction. Never pulled the tooth. Example. I got a $385.00 bill, all I had on me was 4- 100 bills. Gave it the the billing girl. She said we don't have any change. I said we can take it off my next bill. This office kept billing me for a clasp I never had put on me bridge. I told the girl 5 different time I didn't get the class. She said prove it I took my bridge out an showed her. Then she didn't believe me. The dentist told her again today there was no clasp. I don't think she believes him either. I asked about the 15.00 credit do me. She said prove it. I have the receipt but she wouldn't believe it anyway. Very VERY bad customer service. 3 week each time I had to leave my bridge with them. If you want big problems with a place that doesn't stand behind there work by all means go to Coast Dental Gladiolus. I will be posting every week for the next year. Making sure people know all about this substandard service and bad office help.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THIS PLACE HAS A FOUR STAR REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE LIARS AND SCAMMERS!!!!!! LOOK AT THE REVIEWS. THEY LIKE TO CLAIM THAT YOU HAVE PERIODONTAL DISEASE, GIVE YOU THE ANTI-BIOTIC TREATMENT THAT INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER AND THEN CHARGE YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I'M THIS CLOSE TO STANDING OUTSIDE THIS FACILITY WITH A SIGN AND WARN ANYONE WHO TRIES TO GO INSIDE!!!!!!!!! SCAM....WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND FROM THIS REVIEW? DO NOT GO TO COAST DENTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I scheduled an appointment, then was called the day before to say the dentist would not be available. No problem, things happen. We rescheduled for 2 weeks later. 30 minutes before the scheduled time, I receive a text saying I had missed the appointment. I call the number and leave a message saying there must be a mistake because I have the conformation text and email with the upcoming time and location. I drive there and the office is closed. I call the phone number again. This time a receptionist answers but informs me neither of their dentists at either locations is working today?! I will not be attempting to make a 3rd appointment.

I've called this office nearly 50 times(for real) in the past three weeks to ask a question about an upcoming appointment. I've left messages. I've sent emails. I've contacted coast dental customer assistance and, with them, have submitted two complaint tickets about this office. I've gotten 0 response. Either nobody works at this office or they absolutely, without question, need to change their office staff. Worst customer service possibly imaginable. There's no excuse. This is the opposite of what you want from a medical office.

Stay away! This place is a joke. I had no idea it was taken over by a new dentist. I went in for routine cleaning. The staff kept telling me to wait to be examined by the doctor but one never showed up. Instead the dental hygienist performed a quick less than 2 minute dental assessment then diagnosed me with peridontal disease that was too severe for a routine cleaning. She then went off to get a treatment plan telling me that a doctor would be by. Instead, a TV got turned on and a doctor appeared on the screen doing a telemedicine visit with me without my consent to telemedicine. I was shocked since she started prescribing peridontal treatment by reviewing my x-rays, without obtaining a history and not performing a physical exam. She kept implying I had signs of peridontal disease when I have none. Neither did she review prior records. I had never been told ever in my life that I have peridontal Disease and I have zero symptoms. Assessment of a patient you have never met before requires a physical exam, history & review of records. Since when did dentistry become hands off the patient? Where is the Board of Dentistry and why is there not enough regulation over dentists like there is over medical doctors. The hygienist then presented me with a treatment plan for $1500.00 out of pocket and told me to sign the form giving her permission to do the treatment. I was horrified and refused to sign. I left the office feeling violated and scammed. Thankfully I was able to tracks down my former dentist, explain the situation and have an upcoming appointment with him for an exam. This place did not do an exam (no dentist was present) . It is a scam! I blame myself for what happened cos I did not listen to the one star reviews on this place. Run and stay far way. If you must visit this dentist leave your checkbook and credit cards at home but beware they might scan you right off the back to signing up for a payment plan with them . Update : saw another reputable

The women who work up front are so friendly! That's what you need when you're coming in for a root canal. The doctor and his assistant were great. I never pain or after.
