TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

The Coastal Dental of Dunedin Florida in my opinion is the best dental office around. I received dentures and they are better then all the dentures I have ever gotten. The staff is very nice and genuinely care about your dental needs. They take time and listen to your concerns and needs. If you need a good dentist you came to the right place here. I want to say thank you to all who assisted me with my dental needs and brought a bigger smile to my life. May " God " continue to bless you all.

The office staff especially Jen, goes out of her way to make sure everything goes smoothly and works with the patients availability during scheduling and billing. Elizabeth, the hygienist is so kind and comforting. The dentist is remarkable. She is efficient, professional, not heavy handed, empathetic, and does an absolutely fantastic job. Dental work is never fun, but they make it as pleasant as they can and make sure the patient is comfortable. I drive an hour out of my way, each way, just to go to this office. They are a great team. This office is not comparable to any other dental offices, even other Coast Dental locations. They deserve all the recognition and I will ALWAYS turn to this office for anything dental.

Everyone at Coast Dental in Dunedin is so friendly and accommodating. They have gotten me in right away when it was an emergency situation. Other appointments have been available in a short amount of time. They really care about their patients and Dr. Boles does great work.

My situation with my dentures was somehow not solvable for me at the moment. So for me it was reality I need to go on with my teeth situation until one day.... I don't want to explain my whole situation but I was bit hopeless The doctor and the 2 assistant did their best to find a temporary solution. Then the dentist asked me to wait a little while. She came back and had an absolutely smart solution which I could agree upon at once. She stared immediately with it. I still can't believe that she found such a smart solution which helps me sooo much! No temporary solution but a final one I am so happy and thankful to the whole team and for the great and friendly service!

The "auto" system does not work well at all; at least it didn't for me. But, once I got through to the office it was wonderful. The representative worked me in to the schedule that day (unlike the auto program, the appointment was 14 days out) . Dr. B. fixed the problem and sent me on my way. I was very grateful for their time and attention. Thank you, again.
