TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

I am very pleased with the service given today. I have had really bad experience else where so I have anxiety. They made me feel comfortable & explained in details everything that my treatment will entail & the cost. I will continue to seek treatment & know that they will be very empathetic to my needs.

WHEN THEY DO SOMETHING WRONG THEY ALL REFUSE TO GIVE YOU THEIR NAMES AND TELL YOU YOU DONT NEED THEIR NAMES TO MAKE JUST A GENERAL CONPLAINT...BC THEY DONT WANT TO GET IN TROUBLE BUT THATS OK. BBB WILL BE ON THEIR BUTT VERY SOON AND I WILL SPREAD THE WORD ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA TO NEVER GO THERE. IVE NEVER BEEN SO HURT AND DISRESPECT BY A PRACTICE BEFORE IN MY LIFE. They try to up sell you (invisible braces) from the minute you call to make an appointment. When I made the appointment I made it clear I only wanted services covered by my insurance. My teeth are in good repair as I get them checked 2 times each year. At the age of 65, no cavities or work has ever been needed. I'm a physician and actually have a good sense of what is needed and what is being added on to pad the dentist's pocket. When I got there I was set up for panoramic x rays. I asked is this covered by my plan and the answer was "no", only regular x-rays are. So give me the regular x-rays! Well the dentist will ONLY see me if I get the panoramic x rays. Seriously, I just wanted a cleaning. I asked to speak with the dentist and was told she doesn't come in and performs her exam remotely. I walked out and advise you not to walk in.

We both had a good experience at coast dental. Very friendly and efficient. The part that bothers me is we were talked into a deep cleaning for $800 and $900 each and that seems extremely high

Angela was by far the absolute best nurse/medical assistant I've ever had the pleasure to meet. She calmed me down and made sure I understand everything they were going to look at and my options of how to make me feel better. I was extremely nervous and scared to the point I had tears. She immediately made me feel so much better. By far the absolute best dentist experience I've ever seen!

Dr. May is very knowledgeable she explained the procedure while it was happening and Ira and herself are a great team that work well together, if they moved the practice to Miami it would be worth the trip. You want to see a grown man cry send him to Dr. May to fix his smile, I cried Bless Dr. May, Ira and her staff Frank

I am currently in severe dental pain, so bad I can't sleep or eat. It radiates from a bottom tooth to my ear. I had to call the office multiple times in TWO days, only to get a prescription for antibiotics. I told them that I had tried ibprophren and Tylenol and naproxen, and nothing helped. I can't sleep, eat, can barely talk, and sensodyne doesn't work anymore. Why should I suffer? I have an amazing smile, and can't get anything for pain? Makes no sense. I'll go back for my permanent crown. Then I'm finding someone else.

I had to have a biopsy taken of a bad spot on my gums. They did the whole thing at a moment's notice. Dr. May was fantastic, and the whole staff was amazing. Great job by everyone!
