TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

All staff were so friendly and helpful. They led me through the financials and made sure I understood what was going to happen before doing anything. I definitely appreciate all that they did to make my visit pleasant.

This office is horrible! I have a 7 months baby and pay a nanny for the second time to go to the dentist and 1 hour before my appointment they called and cancel my appointment and just said that they cannot do anything.

This Dental care is fantastic! I have a special needs daughter and they were extremely gentle and attentive to her needs. Feels like a family place.I had a crown and it was a perfect fit. Very happy with Dr Atlas, the best!

The staff at Coast Dental are wonderful! From the office staff, dental assistants, hygienist and of course, Dr. Atlas. I had my second cleaning with them and I am thrilled with their professionalism. They remember the little issues I had with my teeth in the past and follow up every time I go into the office. It took me several years to find a dental office that I am completely satisfied with. They are awesome. Highly recommend Coast Dental in Bonita Springs.

Dr Atlas is amazing, She is my friend as well as my doctor. She is such a smart, compassionate new addition to Bonita & Naples Florida areas. We really need her. I know she is new... but she is definitely a keeper. I look foreword to many years of healthy teeth with her knowledge and great staff who are there 100 % to back her up. Great staff. Very pleasant and efficient. My son was taken back within 15 minutes of his appointment. Hygienist was thorough, efficient, Pleasant, and explained everything. Very pleased each time we go there.

The staff here did such an amazing job. Took their time and treated me with care. Hygienist did a spectacular cleaning. To my surprise I had little to no pain whatsoever even after such a thorough job. I highly recommend this office.

No response to my previous message. Rating is low and I requested complimentary cleaning before my next crown which was due me given the extraordinary delay 6 weeks to get complete. I was told the lab was the problem. Not very good service for my inconvenience

Staff was very nice, friendly and very detailed on what to expect on your visit. They make you feel so comfortable explaining procedures, giving direction, even throwing a compliment here and there. Dr Atlas took the time to explain all the options answering every minuscule question i had, even insurance questions. I had a very pleasant experience.
