TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.

During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.

In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.

Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.

Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

Office was a little dated in some parts but the cleaning and care I received was excellent. Just wished they informed patients ahead of time that a preventative cleaning may have additional costs if you show signs of gum/periodontal disease and they will not perform a general cleaning if a deep clean is needed. Other than that, the staff and service was great. My dentist was extremely knowledgeable and informative- I appreciated that. Would recommend. Update since initial review- I was billed another $200+ dollars after the visit (I had already paid $200+ At the office). Maybe it was my insurance- okay. But I was charged for the $25 dollar fluoride treatment the dentist said he would throw in for "free". Had to chase them down to remove the charge. I get non stop emails and texts about making a new appointment and I changed my mind now- I will NOT be back. I have never paid so much for a routine dental cleaning in my life.

Extremely unprofessional. Unresponsive and hard to get in contact with (full voice mail and rarely answers the phone). Had to ask for a things (like copy of records, receipt, etc.) multiple times, and even when it was done, it's not in an official way, as in its a screen shot of their computer. Also, manipulative (they will verbally tell you one thing, then put something else in writing) and their prices are very high. Also, over 4 months later, I still can't chew in the area they worked on.

Best dentist office I've ever been to, and I have been to a lot of dentists in my life. They know what they're doing and you can feel how much they want to help you. Easy 5

Absolutely loved my dental experience in this location (1100 Hammond Drive) Dr F. Dahunsi is more than a 5 star deserving dentist. Jakarri is attentive and very knowledgeable and will give you the plan that suits your needs. Kaylan is a sweetheart. She's very gentle and definitely gets the job done. My first time experience here was more than I expected. I was blown away. If you're looking for a dentist, this is the place to go.

I had very bad experience at this place. I had change of insurance and it was a HMO of cigna so had to choose a new Dr and I went here for the first time. I went for annual check up thinking that its free checkup. They charged $30 for some xrays they took and also recommended me to take detailed screening so total I paid around $70 or more which was OK with me too. Then they didnt do the cleaning on that day or later on any day for which I had actually taken annual appointment. They recommended deep cleaning which costs more than $600 and I said may be I can think about it later after few mo but atleast do basic cleaning which is important and they said they cant do it which means they can keep tartar in teeth and keep dirty. Then I called Cigna and they said I can take another opinion and they should be able to send the Xrays to new Doctist or me. I took appointment with another dentist and called them at perimeter coast dental and asked them to send me the reports and Xrays taken on that day. There was no reply. I tried 4-5 times in next few days but I couldnt reach them. If I call, it goes on VM and I couldnt leave amessage as it says mailbox is full. this happened 4-5 times. Once I could leave a message and asked to call but they never called. Then 2 days ago, I called as new person to take appt and that way could talk and it went to common line, she took the message and complaint and said someone will call me and there was no call after that also. Cigna had said they are supposed to send reports to me by law and I have tried to contact them and want them to send it to another dr or me and give referral for peridontist to take 2nd opinion as its an HMO but like I said it hasnt happened. So dont know how to get those reports. I am going to call cigna and ask whether Xrays are covered again if I go to another dentist and if not, make a complaint to Cigna and make sure that They send my reports to me on time so that I can see another dentist soon and take care of it on time.

Made an appointment for a basic cleaning. When I showed up I was charged $70 for High Definition 3d x rays, when a regular x ray wouldve done the same job. They dont even ask, they just decide to volunteer your money . They then tried to force a $3000 treatment plan that insurance DID NOT cover and gave me an ultimatum to either get thier treatment plan or they will refuse to service me and clean my teeth AT ALL. I turned down the treatment plan becuase I couldn't afford to pay them that exact day $3000 out of pocket on the spot, and asked to recieve a cleaning within my budget. I was denied any service outside of the $3000 treatment plan they were forcing me to take and pay for right then. Its obvious theycare more about how much money they squeeze out each patient over taking care of them. Unfortunately they REFUSED to give me any sort of oral care at Coast Dental Sandy Springs to help with my teeth maintenance, and I left with a $70 charge for fancy teeth photos, but no cleaning.

Do not come here unsanitary. I walked out because I saw one of the staff members washing the dental tools in the sink. She did not sterilize the dental tools. I was disgusted. Unprofessional environment

I came into Coast dental office in November due to tooth pain and was seen by Dr. Feyishayo Dahunsi. He recommended I get a tooth extraction followed by a bridge placement to cover the area. I was very apprehensive, but he convinced me it was the best overall decision. After the extraction he didn't stitch up the area and left a gaping hole in my mouth. The dental assistant then proceeded to make a temporary bridge for me, but ended up getting the material stuck inside of my gum wound, which caused me more pain, lots of bleeding and a longer healing process. Her words to be exact were " This is like doing another extraction" as she continued to try to remove the harden material. I then had to return to the dental office several times due to pain and there being left over tooth fragments inside of my wound. Once I finally returned to get my permanent bridge I was still not pleased with the outcome and told Dr.Feyishayo. He tried to convince me that the bridge looked great ( False!) It was very bulky, crooked and the bite was not correct. I have had a bridge before and the dentist always checks the bite several times with articulating paper. All Dr. Feyishayo did was tell me to bite down once and said it looked great. He never used the paper or any technical to check the bite. It's months later and I still have a huge hole in my gum, harden cement on the bridge and the bridge still looks fake and awful. I have consulted other dentists and they all agree this is messy work and that stitches definitely should have been used. I now have to pay another dentist to fix all the mistakes he caused. Please take my advice and stay clear of perimeter Coast dental.
