TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

THE PEOPLE ARE ALL GREAT, AND THE WORK IS EXCELLENT. THE PROBLEM I HAVE HAD - ABOUT 6 TIMES IN THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS - IS YOUR ADDRESS! SINCE I AM HANDICAPPED AND CAN'T DRIVE, I HAVE TO TAKE THE ACCESS LINK. WHEN I CALLED LINK ON SUN. I GAVE THEM THE ADDRESS ON YOUR WEBSITE: 520 FL-436 Ste 1118, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. THE DRIVER TRIED TO TAKE ME TO ANOTHER LOCATION USING HIS GPS - WITH THE SAME ADDRESS CLOSE TO I-4. I FINALLY ARRIVED AND TOLD ELIZABETH AT THE FRONT DESK. SHE SAID YOU HAVE TO PUT IN "WEST", AND SHOWED ME THE CARD. I TOLD HER IT WAS ON THE CARD BUT NOT THE WEBSITE, AND WHEN I MADE THE ARRANGEMENTS I DIDN'T HAVE A CARD. THE DRIVER WAS LATE IN PICKING ME UP BECAUSE HE WENT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS. I DIDN'T GET HOME UNTIL AFTER 6:30, AND DECIDED TO SWITCH TO THE COAST DENTAL IN APOPKA,, WHICH IS ABOUT HALF AS FAR FROM OUR HOUSE I ALSO REFERRED YOU TO MY HUSBAND RICHARD, AND HE WILL PROBABLY SWITCH TOO. MY SUGGESTION IS THAT YOU CORRECT THE ADDRESS ON LINE BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GETS FED UP AND LEAVES. Quite honestly, I could have easily given Five Stars, but in any given situation, it's my belief that there's always room for improvement, thus my Four Stars. My rating is not based on any negative experience whatsoever. "My overall experience at this facility is superb. The staff with whom I have had contact are very professional, approachable, helpful, and respectful. Dr. Harrison is, without any hesitation, the best dentist I have had since I relocated here from Chicago; and that was about 25 years ago. He's soooooo personable, yet soooooo professional. I'm a very jovial person and Dr. Harrison fits right in with that personality. He is thorough, relaxed, extremely patient, friendly, yet very professional. He always takes the time to explain to me what is being done and he did it with such pleasant demeanor. Not once have I felt he's being rushed and I admire that greatly. Kudos to you Dr. Harrison!! You're the BESTEST!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy with the service I receive from Coast Dental. Dr. James Harrison and his staff are so courteous and helpful. Each of my visits l feel like I am in the best care. They take the time to explain all the procedures and alleviate any issues that I might have. The office is always clean and comfortable. I would recommend this dentist to my friends and family.
