TAMPA, Fla. (October 13, 2020) Coast Dental & Orthodontics is notifying patients about a data theft investigation. The information stolen involves certain patients who received care at the Coast Dental offices in Conyers and North Druid Hills in Georgia.
During the night of August 6, 2020 into August 7, 2020, a locked moving truck containing equipment and patient records was stolen from a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia. The police recovered the truck on or about August 8, 2020 and the truck was secured by the police and placed in an impound lot. Coast Dental placed a lock on the truck while it was in the secured impound lot until the truck could be moved from impound. On August 25, 2020, Coast Dental recovered access and possession of the truck and the items inside the truck. Coast Dental secured the contents and transferred the property to its facility in Florida. From approximately August 26 through August 28, 2020, the contents were inventoried, and upon a full investigation, it was discovered that among other equipment and property, approximately 1,700 patient records containing patient information were compromised or missing.
In an abundance of caution, on October 13, 2020, Coast started mailing letters to affected patients, notifying them of this incident and also offering access to credit monitoring services at no cost to those whose social security numbers may have been compromised. Patients whose information was involved are advised to follow the instructions in the letter to protect their data.
Patients who believe they may be affected by this incident may call (855) 252-2731 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST., excluding major U.S. holidays.
Coast Dental is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information. In response to the incident, Coast Dental has provided additional education to its workforce members and refined processes to better secure patient information.

New to the area and sought a new dentist for an emergent tooth. Needed someone who accepted my Medicare advantage plan insurance as well. Today I had my tooth extracted and I am so pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy the process was!!! Coast Dental in Acworth has gained a long term patient! Excellent job with the numbing shots as well as very quick with the actual extraction.

Awesome awesome is all I can say. Great bunch of folks. That was then, this is as of 4-20-2021. I went and had my teeth cleaned, I thought! It turned out that they didn't want to clean but to pull 8 teeth and do more dental work. They said that my teeth were in bad shape. The cleaning was covered 100% by dental insurance, but they keep billing me 10.00. I keep refusing to pay. Oh the first visit was workers Comp related. Stay away from these people, they will lure you in and try to hook you. Get a second opinion, I did and I still have my teeth they wanted to pull.

I highly recommend Dr. Hudson and his team. This is a great practice. I had all kinds of dental work done- crowns, fillings, extractions, root canals and cleanings with this practice. Dr. Hudson was very thorough and worked to make sure I was comfortable and not in pain in or out of the office.

Dr.Hudson and his staff treat their patients with such great care. I was so nervous when I first got to the office and slowly my nerves went out the window. Very professional and caring. Plus I got a great new sonic toothbrush! Thank you guys!

I recently began going to Coast Dental for the first time. I am grateful that I found this dental office. The staff are wonderful, cheerful, caring folks, and there was no waiting time in the waiting room or once taken back to the examining rooms. They are very efficient! And, my teeth feel great!

I really like the dentist here. He isnt much into conversation and gives short answers but he also has a busy day. The front desk lady is fabulous and welcoming. I recently had a consultation elsewhere for some additional work they dont provide here and they remarked negative comment on my dental cleaning. So, I had a deep cleaning performed about 8 weeks ago and still have a significant amount of tartar left. I feel a little bamboozled with that. My 2nd deep cleaning appt I had to remind the hygienist to do the buffer paste at the end. I figured if I'm paying 400 some dollars I should receive the full treatment I'm charged for. She was very gentle though considering my present dental issues. The assistant is nice but sometimes seems irritated when I request estimates on procedures. I do this so I can plan ahead as each one of my visits is very costly. I felt a little insulted when she said "it needs to be pulled anyway" I'm a healthcare worker so I understand having some insensitivity but clients coming for repair already know their situation. Please dont make them even more embarrassed. That cracked hole on my side effects my smile and severely embarrassed me

My one visit to this location was abysmal, and my experience since has been even worse. I cannot express enough how disappointing this location and company are. There are many great dentists in the area, why bother with one who overcharge you for poor service and accessibility. Read on if you're interested in why. My first visit was met with a rather dark and depressing office and unfriendly staff. I kept the appointment even after all the hassle I had booking it. When I arrived they told me that would need to do X-rays (both bitewing and pano) and ensured me they would be covered under my insurance. I questioned this, as I've never had pano xrays covered, but she insisted they were covered. Fast forward, the dentist himself didn't impress me - he seemed like he was in a race to get out of the room the second he entered. As I'm leaving they hit me a with a bill for the Pano xray, due today. I objected as they assured me several times it was covered, but got no where and ultimately ended up paying for a service I didn't need and was assured would be covered. Months later I started to schedule an appmnt at another local dentist who naturally requested I have my Xrays from my last dentist sent over since they won't be covered a second time inside a year. Three calls to Coast over two months to try and request these X-rays, but this particular location is the only one closed with no plan to reopen. They will not provide me any remedy to access the medical records for services I paid for despite being told were covered, and now will likely have to pay for them a second time at another dentist as I'm now well overdue for a cleaning.
