Born and raised in Clinton, Dr. Derrick is proud to have come back home upon graduating from James B. Edwards School of Dentistry @ MUSC in Charleston in 2006, where she purchased the practice of Daniel P. Hartley established in 1977. Dr. Derrick graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2002 (Go Cocks!) and from Clinton High School in 1998. She knew she wanted to be a dentist while still in high school due to her complex dental issues in her youth. She credits Dr. Phil McClary and Dr. John Sowell for making her smile beautiful and never causing any pain. She hopes to do that for all of her patients!

Dr. Derrick is a member of the SC Dental Association, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the LD Pankey Alumni Association. Over the past fourteen years she has amassed over 600 hours of continuing education and inJuly 2017, she was awarded fellowship status in general dentistry from the AGD. There are only 105 dentists in South Carolina who have achieved this distinction and 6,500 in the country.

These awards mean that your general dentist cares about long-term dental health for you and your family and demonstrates that concern by pursuing additional designations. The Fellowship (FAGD) and Mastership (MAGD) Awards are two of the most rigorous continuing dental education programs today. The Pankey Institute has been the key to changing the way Dr. Derrick practices dentistry. They teach you to start with the patient as a whole, to look at the complete picture, before preparing a dental plan. She finished the core curriculum in 2017, attends annual meetings and looks forward to returning to Key Biscayne, FL when this pandemic is over.

Dr. Derrick is passionate about forming a relationship with every patient and welcoming them into the family of Clinton Dental Care. Each patient will leave the office knowing they have received the best dental care in the region. We are a close family at Clinton Dental Care and we hope everyone that comes through our door will feel right at home!

Dr. Derrick loves spending time with her daughter, Addy, and being outside, especially in the water. In her free time, she loves the beach, cooking and baking, and going to USC sporting events (she cannot wait to get back to those!).

Clinton Dental Care has a long history of serving patients from Laurens County and surrounding areas.
