Often, we neglect our health, ignore warning signs, and put off dealing with problems until they become emergencies, in need of immediate and drastic attention. At Cleona Dental, we remind our patients that the sooner we catch a problem, the easier it is for us to deal with it. If we detect a cavity early enough, for example, treatment might be no more invasive than air abrasion. A trip to the dentist need not be the dreaded experience that it once was. This is especially true at our office, where we go to great effort to create a relaxing atmosphere that will make you feel calm and welcome the moment you walk in the door.
Dr. Davis started her career in dentistry in 1988 as a dental hygienist. After receiving a certificate in dental hygiene from the University of Pittsburgh, she worked as a dental hygienist while pursuing a bachelor of chemistry degree at Lebanon Valley College, where she received numerous awards in organic chemistry and served as a research assistant under the guidance of Dr. Carl T. Wigal, PhD. Dr. Davis has also published in The Journal of Organic Chemistry.
Subsequent to a 10-year career as a dental hygienist, Dr. Davis entered dental school at the University of Pennsylvania. Again, doing research was an important part of her educational process; she received a grant from the National Institutes of Health for work in the area of bone formation. Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Davis joined the practice of Dr. Frederick S. Johnson. Together, they practice a philosophy of comprehensive and esthetic dentistry. In 2007, Dr. Davis bought this practice. In time, the practice became known as Cleona Dental, LLC.
Dr. Davis is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA), the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), and an Alumni and Visiting Faculty of The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. She has served on the ADA Committee of the New Dentist and the PDA New Dentist committee. She is the past president of the Fourth District Dental Society.
It all started when a patient asked if she could hold Willow on her lap during a dental visit. Willow did an excellent job keeping the patient calm during the procedure. Dr. Davis decided to enroll her with KPETS to complete professional therapy training so that she could help even more patients. Shes available for petting, playing, or just sitting with you during your dental visit.
Her favorite activities are playing in the mud and getting bellyrubs, and her favorite toy is a pink sock monkey given to her by her uncle Pete. She also likes to hike and hang out with her friends, Oakley, Rebel, Dwight, and Phinn.
Give Kids a Smile Day is an event Cleona Dental started in 2010. Give Kids a Smile Day is usually held in the month of February in honor of Childrens Dental Health Month. This event is held annually at our office.
This special day is meant to help less fortunate children in our community who are not receiving dental care. Thanks to the generosity of our dental team we were able to provide valuable dental services to area children over the last 10 years events at no cost to the child. Services completed included: Exams, Cleanings, Fillings, Extractions, X-rays, Sealants & Root Canals.
