Our doors opened for the first time in 1967 when Dr. John Gholson started the practice. In 2007, after 40 years of providing the Nashville community with fantastic care, Dr. Gholson sold the practice to Dr. Ashley Clayton, who was working there as an associate at the time. Dr. Clayton has made it his mission to carry on the legacy of providing patients with outstanding care from trustworthy, friendly professionals in an environment where the whole family will feel comfortable.
He logged more than 400 hours of implant specific lectures and training to become one of Middle Tennessees experts in the field. His hard work earned him recognition as an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) at the 2016 Annual Conference. Dr. Clayton surpassed the required 300 hours of postdoctoral education in the field of implant dentistry. He successfully performed implant cases, and he passed the AAIDs examination.
Dr. Grant Diffee graduated from the University School of Jackson high school in 2009 and from Mississippi State University in 2013. He also received his Masters of Biomedical Sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2015. Dr. Diffee attained his DMD from The University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in 2019. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Molly, new daughter Grace and their two dogs, Jackson and Henry. He also enjoys golfing, being outdoors, and watching all types of sports.

I had a great experience. I was called in on time. My cleaning was pain free and very thorough. Dr Diffee took his time for the exam after. I was extremely pleased and will be a regular at their office. Their extra care after the Covid virus made me comfortable that I would not be exposed

I had my first ever appointment at Clayton Dental just a few days ago and it was a wonderful experience! The entire staff was very friendly and warm and professional. Dr Diffee was really great, as was his assistant Kailey. They made me feel very welcome, appreciated and at ease. So glad to have found such a great new dental office and only a stones throw from my house!

Front desk staff was very warm and and inviting. I arrived 10 minutes early. Sign in process was very easy. I was taken back early. My dental hygienist was very nice. She explained everything she was doing before she did it and made sure I was handling everything well during my cleaning. Dentist was super nice. I didn't feel like he was trying to find things to fix, if you know what I mean. Overall I was very pleased and I made my next appointment before I left.

I've been seeing Dr. Clayton for over 15 years. He and his staff have been, and are, the absolute best. I've continued seeing him even though I moved out of Donelson over 10 years ago. Highly recommended.

The pain in my tooth came in quick and fast, I couldn't eat or apply any pressure to the tooth in the back. The Dr. assessed the situation and gave me options in minutes. I was able to get the tooth extracted and immediately the pain was gone. So happy!!
