I grew up in Oklahoma City, where my father was a general dentist. It was in his office where I realized that continuing in his footsteps was the right choice for me. I saw firsthand how much his patients appreciated his compassion and dedication to their health, and knew that I wanted to experience the same thing from my own patients.

Working with children is such a joy! Their smiles, personalities, and excitement make each and every day special. I work hard to ensure my patients first dental experiences are positive.Knowing that their time spent in our office sets them up for a lifetime of oral health is extremely rewarding.

I completed my undergraduate education at Hampton University and continued to dental school at Howard Universitys College of Dentistry, the fifth-oldest dental school in the nation. There, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. My hands-on experience and training were extended during my general practice residency at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York, and my pediatric dentistry residency at Brookdale University Hospital Center, also in Brooklyn.

It is my missionto stay on top of the newest developments in dental technology and techniques, including sedation and behavior modification, to help provide a comfortable experience for my young patients. I continue my education through memberships with the:

My wifeand I have lived in Greensboro for more than a decade. Weve loved making this wonderful community our home;its such a fantastic place to live! We have two children: a young son and youngerdaughter. Both kids are very active!

Our staff works hand-in-hand with our doctors to ensure that patients have a smooth and comfortable experience while receiving dental treatment. This team is specially trained to ease the worries of our most anxious patients. They explainevery step to all our patientsandensure theyalways feel in control.

Many of thewomen on our staff aremoms and understand the anxieties that you or your child might feel. They want to exceed your expectations and help you recognize that our practice is a uniquely wonderful place for your child.

Nitrous oxide/oxygen is given through a small breathing mask which is placed over the childs nose, encouraging him or her to relax, but without putting the patientto sleep. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recognizes this as a very safe, effective technique to use for treating childrens dental needs.

The gas is mild andeasily taken;then, with normal breathing, it is quickly eliminated from the body. It is non-addictive. While inhaling nitrous oxide/oxygen, your child remains fully conscious and keeps all natural reflexes.

Conscious sedation is recommended for apprehensive children, very young children, and children with special needs. It is used to calm thepatientand to reduce the anxiety or discomfort associated with dental treatments.Your child may be quite drowsy, and may even fall asleep, but he or shewill not become unconscious.

A variety of different medicationscan be used for conscious sedation. Dr. Clark will prescribe the medication best suited for your childs overall health and dental treatment recommendations. We will be happy to answer any questions you might have concerning the specific drugs we plan to give to your youngster.

  • If your youngsterwants to sleep, place the patienton his or herside with thechin up. Wake your little oneevery hour and encourage the patientto have something to drink in order to prevent dehydration. At first, it is best to give your child sips of clear liquids to prevent nausea. The first meal should be light and easily digestible.
  • Because we use local anesthetic to numb your childs mouth during the procedure, he or she may have atendency to bite or chew thelips, cheeks, and/or tongue and/or rub and scratch theface after treatment. Please observe your child carefully to prevent any injury to these areas.
  • Outpatient general anesthesia is recommended for apprehensive children, very young children, and children with special needs whenconscious sedation or I.V. sedation might not be sufficient. General anesthesia renders your child completely asleep.

This would be the same as if he/she was having thetonsils removed, ear tubes, or hernia repaired. The procedureis performed in a hospital or outpatient setting only. While the assumed risks are greater than those forother treatment options, if this is suggested for your child, the benefits of treatment have been deemed to outweigh the risks.

The risks of NO treatment include tooth pain, infection, swelling, the spread of new decay, damage to thedeveloping adult teeth, and possible life-threatening hospitalization because ofa dental infection.

  • If your youngsterwants to sleep, place the patienton oneside with thechin up. Wake your little oneevery hour and encourage him or herto have something to drink in order to prevent dehydration. At first, it is best to give achild sips of clear liquids to prevent nausea. The first meal should be light and easily digestible.
