CJ Dental - General dentist in Oklahoma City, OK

At the age of 14, she knew she wanted to be a dentist, when she had experienced some frightening treatment and her dentist calmed her down and helped set her on a path to becoming a dentist. After attending OSU for 3 years she was accepted to the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry a year before completing her BS in Pre-Med. Upon graduation from OU College of Dentistry in 1986, she moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where she completed a hospital residency program in General Practice at Montefiore Hospital. She then returned to Oklahoma City to take over the dental program at St. Anthony Hospital, where she was the director of the General Practice Residency for 20 years.

In 1994 while running the residency program at St. Anthony, Mary also decided she wanted to have a private practice. She bought the practice of retiring dentist Dr. Tommy Lecas and started Saints Family Dentistry. Along the way she met a young college student who was interested in possibly having a career in dentistry.

That is when she met Katherine Lawrence, who after spending a week together decided dentistry was a perfect match for her. Who knew that several years later, Katherine would be joining the practice and Saints Family Dentistry would become CJ Dental!

Mary has attended the Pankey Institute and the Spear Education Institute, both are advanced educational institutes in restorative dentistry and occlusal disease. Each of these institutes require long hours of vigorous study usually for 2-7 days for each course. In addition to these educational institutes, Mary has attended hundreds of hours of continuing education in areas of dentistry as well as sedation, emergency medicine, and advanced cardiac life support.

Mary is very involved in the Special Care Dentistry Association, a national organization that is specifically focused on providing dentistry for those with special needs. Mary was the president of the American Association of Hospital Dentistry in 2007, is a Diplomat of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry, and a Fellow of the American Association of Hospital Dentistry. She also sat on the National Post-Graduate Residency Education Review Board for the ADA from 1999-2003 and 2005-2006.

Mary is also active locally in the Oklahoma County Dental Society, having served as a member of the Board of Directors, and on the Department of Human Services sub-committee. She sat on the Anesthesia Sub-Committee for the State of Oklahoma Board of Dentistry, chairing the committee for the final years of her commitment. Mary also has been a volunteer for the OK Mission of Mercy, providing dental services in Oklahoma City; and as a volunteer for Pan American Medical Mission Foundation providing dental services in Central America. Mary is a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and has served as a Deacon and an Elder, as well as teaching 1st grade Sunday school for 8 years, and serving as a Confirmation mentor for many years.

Mary met and married the love of her life, Tom Kelly, and had 14 wonderful years before losing him to cancer. During their marriage they were blessed with 4 beautiful grandsons who reside in California. Mary has multiple nieces and nephews who are like her own children as well as several adopted kids. She is also a great aunt to Emmarie, Layla and Jeddthe next generation to spoil! Marys hobbies include gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoys the relationships she has with her staff at CJ Dental. Each member of the team is very special to her and she wants to make sure they understand she considers them family just as she is with her patients. For Dr. Mary Casey-Kelly, dentistry is not just a job, its a calling. She strives to make her patients feel special and to know they are family.

Dr. Katherine L. Johnsons path to dentistry likely began in her Bishop McGuinness High School art class, where she discovered a joy and talent for creating ceramics. By her first year at the University of Oklahoma, she knew that working in medicine and raising a family were among her goals. After some careful consideration and observing in Dr. Mary Casey Kellys office, Katherine made up her mind to pursue a career in dentistry.

Katherine earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma in 1999 and went on to Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX. She graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2003. In 2006, Katherine returned home to Oklahoma City and partnered with Mary, forming CJ Dental. They built a brand new, state-of-the-art dental studio in northwest Oklahoma City, across from Classen Curve.

Katherine has attended the Pankey Institute and Spear Education where she received advanced training in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, TMJ therapy, and occlusal disease. In addition to these institutes, she has hundreds of hours of continuing education in all areas of dentistry. She is a member of the Metro Study Club, American Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association, and the Oklahoma County Dental Society. For the past 7 years she has been the adopt-a-dentist for Horace Mann School helping to provide dental education to all children and dental care with the mobile dental van for the underprivileged. She is deeply involved with her dental community as well as the familys neighborhood and school.

Dr. Ryan Chandler is a native to Oklahoma. He grew up in Ardmore, where he graduated from Ardmore High School. Ryan played baseball for Oklahoma Wesleyan University his first three years of college. He then transferred to East Central University where he earned a degree in Biology. Ryan married his wife, Britney, shortly after college and they have two children.

Dentistry has been a pursuit of Ryans as long as he can remember. Growing up, he loved going to the dentist and learning about dentistry. In college, his path became clear on how to obtain a degree and get his prerequisites for dental school. Following college, Ryan worked as a dental assistant for CJ Dental for almost three years while applying for dental school which expanded his knowledge and understanding of the field.

In 2013, Ryan was accepted to the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. He graduated in 2017 as a Doctor of Dental Surgery and then went on to complete a one year General Practice Residency at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City. There he received advanced training in all aspects of dentistry, including oral surgery, periodontal surgery, and implantology. He then accepted a full time position at the hospitals dental clinic.

CJ Dental is happy to have Ryan back several days a month to expand their practice and the services offered. He provides the services that he received advanced training it at their office. Old and new patients alike have enjoyed having him back!
