Amazing bed side manner! New state of the art equipment! Painless!!!! (and I got a root canal) I would recommend them to anyone who wants the best of all worlds in a dentist. Dr. Laura Styron was absolutely amazing, and kept me informed every step of the way. I am one who is very nervous about going to the dentist, but City Dental DC is the absolute best!

Dr. Tsaknis genuinely cares about his patients. He takes time to educate, explain basics, investigate and address the root cause of issues, and empower his patients to improve their overall dental and oral health. At the first visit to City Dental DC the staff took behind the teeth images with this cool little camera device and also X-rays. Dr. Tsaknis pulled up the images/X-rays on a large screen to ask questions, review my oral/dental health history, point things out to me, and spend time educating and sharing ways to improve my dental care regiment. On subsequent visits, he has continued to take time for patient education on things like reviewing the dos and don't of proper flossing, electronic toothbrush use, and more. In short, Dr. John Tsaknis is by far the best and most thorough dentist I've ever seen and I highly recommended him. If you're looking for a dentist in the DC area, don't look any further and go see him for thorough, friendly, and customer-focused dental care. Bonus- if you're driving to their office, there's free parking behind the building.

This review was from many years ago but editing it now because it really was an upsetting experience, and years later I have had dentists comment on the fillings I received here. And I just saw now (years later) the dentist's reply to my comment: You literally made fun of the woman on the television show playing over my head in the exam room, and body shamed her while poking around my mouth with instruments. Read the negative reviews for this dental practice that have responses from the dentist saying the patient/reviewers are lying about their experiences. I can't think of a bigger red flag. -- Absolute nightmare. Dr Tsaknis is gruff and has no bedside manner. I had to go back 5 times to get fillings adjusted because they rushed each one and wouldn't listen to me when I said it felt wrong. I told him I was experiencing a lot of anxiety about one of my teeth since it hurt and he did not take any care to talk me through it. Furthermore, Dr Tsaknis made fun of a woman's weight on a tv show the whole time he was drilling my tooth. That's inappropriate and unkind.

It's a shame that I have to write a less than stellar review because I really like my dentist. I opted to do the Invisalign treatment after speaking with my dentist. The cost was steep but my insurance covered enough to make it worth while. I am quite happy with the treatment and outcomes. BUT The office manager has been an absolute nightmare to work with. Had to pay for the entirety of my treatment out of pocket because the manager could not seem to file the right paperwork with my insurance company. I was finally able to get everything to my insurance company and they authorized payment, which went to the dentist's office. I am now fighting to get my money from the dentist's office. The same money I had to fight to get from my insurance company.

I had to change my dentist to here since they are very close to home. Haven't been to a dentist in a few years so had a lot of things to handle: had a cavity, chipped tooth, filling repair and needed updated xrays and cleaning. Outstanding from start to finish. The admin team is helpful and communicative. The hygienists are friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. My Doctor was professional and her work was perfection. Their equipment is state of the art with 3D imaging and capability to build custom crowns on site, so no waiting for lab returns. Very impressed, happy with my dental work and highly recommend them. I recently moved and my last dentist told me I had some cavities developing but they didn't do anything about them. I came to City Dental expecting to have several and of course had to get a bunch of fillings. However, the hygenists and dentist were very professional and gave me all my options, as well as a new toothpaste to help prevent future cavities. The fillings went fine, though I had to go back to get one fixed since my bite wasn't quite right and was hurting my gum, but they fixed it all very quickly and with no problems.

My 5 yr old just got two fillings. They were patient, gentle and informative. update: my 2 year old knocked a tooth (it bent back) and we were in sheer panic but City Dental saw us for an emergency visit on a Sat evening and even examined my daughter in the car (she passed out from screaming so much). All was well we bent the tooth back and it's still working a year later, albeit a bit discolored.

I recently contacted City Dental DC for an emergency visit. Yvette Bailey graciously assisted me with getting on the attending dentist's schedule. She was very understanding about my concerns and conveyed them to the dentist. Dr. Tsaknis squeezed me into his very busy schedule and took the time to explain to me why I had discomfort. He did not make me feel like an imposition. My dentist is Dr. Styron. She explains things thoroughly before, during, and after the procedures. She does excellent work. I highly recommend her to anyone who is nervous in the dentist's chair.

I was at Dr Tsaknis' office, and I recommend it! Excellent professional! Without a doubt the best dentist I've ever been to! I arrived very disappointed, imagining that I would have to make 2 root canal, spend a fortune, but no, he managed to save my tooth! He explained to me every detail of everything, as was my oral health, what may have happened, tips on what to do to improve! I couldn't ask for a better professional than him!
