is a team of dental professionals that travels with portable dental equipment to schools, rehabilitation centers, juvenile detention centers and other social service agencies to provide dental services to students and clients. In 2020, the DRC served 1,560 men, women and children.
The staff consists of a dentist, dental assistants, and a dental hygienist. The DRC travels in three teams to schools, rehab centers and other social agencies to provide dental care to students and clients. The Dental Portable Team and School Mobile Servicesprovide comprehensive dental treatment for men, women and children in Greater Cincinnati. The Sealant Teamis critical in providing preventative oral health care for low-income students. The Sealant Team targets schools in which at least 50 percent of the students are eligible for free or reduced school lunches.The children are seen during the school day, thereby reducing the time the students are out of the classroom. When students show signs of extensive disease, the sealant teams contact parents and refer them to low-cost programs in their area or our dental center. In 2020, more than1,500 low- income children were treated.
