Dr. John Mendoza attended undergraduate school at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he received his BA in Interdisciplinary Studies. Then, he went on to receive his DDS from the University of the Pacific. Dr. Mendoza grew up dreaming about becoming a dentist. He hopes to bring the fun of dentistry back in the El Paso community and help patients gain confidence through their smile.

Dr. Obiajulu Onuora, known as Dr. Obi, grew up in Nigeria and the United States. He received his dental degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities before going on to complete a general practice residency in Brooklyn, New York.

After his residency, Dr. Obi practiced as a dentist there for three years. Dr. Obis love for creating beautiful smiles pushed him to pursue more education in orthodontics at Jacksonville University in Florida.

Cosmetic dentistry has become very popular in the last several years, not only due to the many advances in cosmetic dental procedures and materials available today, but also because patients are becoming more and more focused on improving their overall health. This includes dental prevention and having a healthier, whiter, more radiant smile.

There are many cosmetic dental procedures available to improve your teeth and enhance your smile. Depending on your particular needs, cosmetic dental treatments can change your smile dramatically, from restoring a single tooth to having a full mouth make-over. Ask your dentist how you can improve the health and beauty of your smile with cosmetic dentistry.

Teeth Whitening:Bleaching lightens teeth that have been stained or discolored by age, food, drink, and smoking. Teeth darkened as a result of injury or taking certain medications can also be bleached, but the effectiveness depends on the degree of staining present.

Composite (tooth-colored) Fillings:Also known as bonding, composite fillings are now widely used instead of amalgam (silver) fillings to repair teeth with cavities, and also to replace old defective fillings. Tooth-colored fillings are also used to repair chipped, broken, or discolored teeth. This type of filling is also very useful to fill in gaps and to protect sensitive, exposed root surfaces caused by gum recession.

Porcelain Veneers:Veneers are thin custom-made, tooth-colored shells that are bonded onto the fronts of teeth to create a beautiful individual smile. They can help restore or camouflage damaged, discolored, poorly shaped, or misaligned teeth. Unlike crowns, veneers require minimal tooth structure to be removed from the surface of the tooth.

Porcelain Crowns (caps):A crown is a tooth-colored, custom-made covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. Crowns protect and strengthen teeth that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. They are ideal for teeth that have large, fractured or broken fillings and also for those that are badly decayed.

Dental Implants:Dental implants are artificial roots that are surgically placed into the jaw to replace one or more missing teeth. Porcelain crowns, bridges, and dentures can be made specifically to fit and attach to implants, giving a patient a strong, stable, and durable solution to removable dental appliances.

Orthodontics:Less visible and more effective brackets and wires are making straightening teeth with orthodontics much more appealing to adult patients. Also, in some cases, teeth may be straightened with custom-made, clear, removable aligners that require no braces.

Very bad first visit. Was there over 2 hours and had nothing but X-rays done. Had chipped tooth and needed bonding/filling. Tech came in and said I had a cavity and needed a filling. I told her no and she disagreed, then came back with some crazy explanation about insurance payments blah blah blah. No communication between staff, techs and dentists caused a mess. I left without treatment since I did not get a good feeling.

I highly recommend Cielo Dental and all of their staff. Everyone from the front desk to the hygienists were wonderful. Being new to El Paso I was nervous about establishing care with a new dentist but Dr. Mendoza was very kind and knowledgeable. He really took his time to answer ALL of my questions about my treatment plan and was very honest about everything. The dental hygienists Vicente and Jenny were incredible. Super thorough cleaning and x-rays and did not make me feel rushed. Valerie and Vivi were extremely sweet and accommodating with getting me in as soon as possible and explaining the finances. Even though they had many other patients in the building they all made me feel like I was the only one there. A much dreaded dental visit was turned into a pleasant one thanks to all the staff here. I'm happy to say I will be a patient here as long as I'm in town and will be recommending others to Cielo Dental as well.

Have been a patient for about 1.5 years. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They're always quick to advise you on cost of visit. Dentist has always been knowledgeable. Hygienist are friendly and do good job. 4 star because sometimes you do wait a bit to have the cleaning get started. They check you in relatively on time but then you have to wait on the chair for a bit. Bring a sweater. Office is chilly.

My wife and I felt very comfortable with the service we received during our last visit. After a short wait time, we were received with the service providers, the Doctor who answered all our questions and the Dental Hygienist who took very good care of us with gentle care. We were very pleased.

Wow! This has been my first negative review for any business, but I felt it was worth sharing. I had work re-done on my front tooth yesterday, after explaining my concerns about the aesthetic, during the requested adjustments Dr. Mendoza made it clear he was frustrated with every request. I felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave as soon as possible. Leaving the dental office I took a photo about 2 hours after, mind you I had not eaten or spoken much within that time frame. I took a photo to document the tooth. I called the next morning to express my concerns and the staff scheduled me an appointment the same morning. I went in, as expected, Dr. Mendoza seemed frustrated, said I had chipped it. Since I had left the office yesterday, the tooth was left uneven in respect to its neighbor tooth. I explained I had taken a photo on my iPad, he said to bring it, I told him it was at home, he said to bring it in he would love to see it in a sarcastic tone; insinuating I was lying. He said there was nothing he could do about it. I left the office frustrated in tears. He is insensitive, condescending, and what seems to be is ego getting in the way of quality patient care. Everyone in life is going through such hard times, when treating others is so hurtful and negative, they should really consider another profession. Worst dental experience, and professional experience I have ever had. The hygienist and staff other than Dr. Mendoza are absolutely wonderful.

It was a great experience as soon as I walked in. Front staff is welcoming, kind, helpful, and patient. Dr. Mendoza walked me through everything. My concerns, my questions, my fears were all addressed. I have had some bad experiences with dentist in the past but Dr. Mendoza was friendly, kind, skilled, and very patient. It just felt like he cared, you can tell he loves what he does.
