I was 10 years old when I decided I wanted to be an orthodontist. I had 2 extra front teeth and needed the magic of my orthodontist (with the help of oral surgeons and gum doctors) to help me fix my smile. It was life-changing for my smile, and my orthodontist made my treatment so much fun thatI decided that I wanted to help other people in the same way! I love to make people laugh, smile, and feel welcome in our practice. I can't wait to get to know you. Here's a little bit about me;

Prior to becoming an orthodontist, I attended the University of Arizona for my Bachelor of Science in molecular and cellular biology, and graduated summa cum laude. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Oregon Health & Sciences University, and my Master of Science in oral biology and certificate of orthodontics from Baylor College of Dentistry.

As an orthodontist, I know that my continuing education is critical to doing my job well. I stay at the forefront of the latest orthodontic methods so I can ensure my patients receive the best care possible. As a part of my continuing education, I am active in several study clubs that focus on patient treatment, practice efficiency, and the latest technologies in orthodontics. I am also board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics a distinction held by fewer than half of all orthodontists in the United States, and only two in Eugene.

I am also active in the dental community and a member of the Lane County Dental Society, Oregon Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Northwest Angle Society of Orthodontists, and Charles H. Tweed International Foundation. I focus my studies on the latest advances in orthodontics including Invisalign, TADS, and cone beam CT. Continuing education is an invaluable part of my practice life and allows me to offer the best, most advanced, and comprehensive care for my patients.

This is a picture of a humanitarian mission I went on to Ghana, Africa, while I was in the U.S. Army. As a forward deployed dentist, I was trained to treat soldiers in a field environment think dentistry in a tent!

I was born in Austin, Texas, but moved around a lot since my father was in the Air Force. My wife and I have lived in Eugene since 2002, and love raising our children here. We have four children: Chloe, Alice, Andrew, and Colin.

In my spare time, I run marathons. I have completed the five major world marathons in Berlin, New York, Chicago, London, and Boston. I thoroughly enjoy running and the camaraderie that comes along with meeting people through running. I also enjoy traveling, hiking, snow and water skiing, and boating with my family.

In addition to staying active, I am also passionate about helping my community. I am a member of the Lane County Dental Society and Junior Achievement, teach classes at Lane Community College, and support local sports teams, schools, and activities.

As a perfectionist and a tinkerer, no field was more exciting to me than orthodontics. I love to plan, watch, and guide the progression of each patients journey to achieving their ideal smile. I attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for my Bachelor of Science in Biology and German, where I was awarded the Gold Key for highest GPA in my class. Prior to beginning my dental training, I accepted a Fulbright Scholarship that took me to Germany to teach English for a year. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry and my Master of Science in Dentistry and certificate of orthodontics from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.

Being a great orthodontist requires a commitment to lifelong learning. I take this commitment seriously and enjoy putting in the work to stay up to date with the latest orthodontic treatment techniques so that I can provide my patients with the best possible care. While I undertake studies covering all aspects of orthodontics, I have a specific interest in clear aligners and temporary anchorage devices (TADs).

I was born and raised in Fremont, Nebraska. Im married to my best friend, Juliana, who I met while living in Germany. She is originally from Brazil and we met by chance on a train; it was truly one in a million that our paths crossed and we ended up together. Ask me the story sometime!

In my free time, I love to cook. I like to experiment with all types of cuisine but I have a particular passion for Neapolitan-style pizza. I also enjoy many podcasts, running, hiking, and traveling. Juliana and I love traveling internationally to new countries in particular.

My wonderful fiance Zach and I have two Rottweiler fur babies, Maverick and Marleigh. I love to take the pups for walks and cuddle on the couch with them. My hobbies include sand dollar searching, paddle boarding, and anything that involves family. I love taking photos and love music, too. Some things that make me smile: the color teal, tea, Smartfood popcorn, my Toyota Tacoma, and makeup.

Hello and welcome to Chvatal Orthodontics! Im Marissa and I work in our clinic, where I help our patients during treatment. In addition to providing patient care, I work hard to keep our clinical flow smooth and also handle sterilization duties. I love interacting with patients and their families. We get to see everyone fairly frequently, and that gives us plenty of time to get to know one another. Many times, once a patient has finished treatment, we then get to see and care for their younger siblings, or their mom and dad decide they want to change their smile, too. Its fun to get to know whole families like this!

Im a native Oregonian, having grown up in Creswell, just a few miles south of Eugene. I enjoy film, sports, crafting, and my boys: Aaron, my sweet, musically talented, and hilarious boyfriend since 2012 and our Puggle, Nesta! He is my whole heart and has such a wonderful soul!

Im Donovanand my job entails doing whatever needs to be done: I work in the clinic, make retainers and 3D models in the lab, and do my best to fix any minor issues that arise throughout the day. When Im not in the office Im usually outdoors, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine! Spencer Butte is my favorite place in town to soak up the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Theres nothing I love more than hanging out with my family, friends, and my boyfriend Adan and our cat, Batman. Throw in some good food and baseball and Im in heaven!

Born and raised in Eugene, I adore animals, plants, and Mexican food. My partner and I have a Patterson Jack Russell named Snowball and a black cat named Kitty.
