The career inspiration originated from his own experience as an orthodontic patient in Washington, D.C. Dr. Tsintolas was born in D.C. and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. As the youngest of four children, his turn for braces came after his two sisters and brother concluded their orthodontic treatment. Shortly after he began treatment, he recognized that orthodontics is a special profession. The marriage of the technical with the artistic fascinated him. His treatment concluded with straight teeth and strong inspiration for a fulfilling career.
Dr. Tsintolas journey to become an orthodontist began with four years at the College Park Campus of the University of Maryland, where he earned a bachelors degree in general biological sciences in 1980. Next, he completed four years of study and clinical practice to receive a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1984.
He returned to school to complete two additional years of specialty graduate training in orthodontics. That culminated in a masters degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics.
Dr. Tsintolas established his orthodontic practice in Gaithersburg in 1987 at the Montgomery Village Professional Center. He later moved the practice to its current location on Russell Avenue. He has cared for thousands of area children, teens and adults since then. It is a great honor when former patients, now adults, bring their own children to his practice for orthodontic care.
Orthodontics has modernized tremendously since Dr. Tsintolas was a boy. Far more treatment options exist for his patients than were available to him as a patient many years ago. Ongoing participation in continuing education permits him to bring the best orthodontic concepts and materials to patients. He meets throughout the year with area dentists and specialists for additional study and exposure to dental topics of importance and interest.

Retainers hold teeth in their final positions. One set of retainers is included in the cost of your treatment. All patients are encouraged to return to the office on an annual or as needed basis to maintain a good fit of the retainers.
Dr. Tsintolas and the American Association of Orthodontists strongly encourage the first visit to the orthodontist by age 7 earlier if there is any concern, question or worry. Dr. Tsintolas provides an honest assessment of your childs current and future orthodontic needs. If it is best to afford your child more time for tooth eruption and jaw growth, Dr. Tsintolas suggests your child return to the office for periodic monitoring at no charge. Rest assured, the doctors priority is the individual child. He will not recommend unnecessary treatment, nor will he push treatment earlier than optimal.
Dr. Tsintolas is a participating specialty provider with most insurance plans. Our office prepares and electronically submits all claims on your behalf to assist you in accessing your full insurance benefit.
Dr. Tsintolas offers competitive fees for his expert services. An interest-free loan is extended for every treatment fee as a courtesy. The practice does not outsource the loan, which eliminates the headache of loan applications and paperwork. We offer a Thank You Discount of 5 percent when a qualifying treatment fee is paid in full with a check at the start of treatment. A popular option is Hands-Free Payments; we automatically charge your MasterCard, Visa, or Discover monthly. Secure, online payments are possible around-the-clock.
Our clinical staff are highly trained and are certified by the State of Maryland as Dental Radiation Technologists and Qualified Orthodontic Assistants. They update their many skills throughout the year. Our administrative staff are also trained and skilled to provide you with the best service.
We utilize single-use, disposable tools and materials whenever feasible- and we properly discard them after each use. Non-disposable equipment and tools are always thoroughly cleaned and then sterilized after every use. Hand hygiene before every patient, protective eyewear, and face masks are visible steps we take to protect our patients. We maintain a clean office and adhere to strict guidelines.

My kids just started here and we are very impressed by the machine that is the Tsintolas office! Lots of movement in the teeth, paperwork is handled well, follow up calls--we are happy to have found this place for our adolescents' braces!

Dr. Tsintolas helped my daughter to have beautiful and healthy teeth. The office reminds us about follow up visits and I feel comfortable knowing my daughter is in such professional hands. Considering the ongoing pandemic the office is taking all possible precautions and it is safe to visit and continue treatment in my opinion. I should start with Dr. Tsintolas and his staff, who are excellent to satisfy the needs of a perfect smile. My child is going to this Orthodontic facility for 2 years now. I felt lucky that my primary dentist, Dr. Hyosik Kim, recommended Dr. Tsintolas for braces for then 11-year-old boy. The office is crystal clean, and they managed the COVID-19 issues exceptionally well. The well being of the patient is the primary criteria for this office. The staff and Dr. Tsintolas always accommodate his patients, those in urgent need, and have to be immediately seen. I recommend Dr. Tsintolas orthodontic facility to all who are in need. If you want a orthodontist that has no empathy and heart then you should choose him. He is a decent orthodontist but if you have a choice between him and another professional that is emphatic, compassionate and competent then go to them instead. We have always paid ahead and basically almost in full for both of our kids. He won't see my last child in treatment until he collected the $600.00 even though we had already paid 95% of the treatment and knew that Jan 1st we would pay the balance in full, we had lost income because of Covid and even though he knew we were dealing with my father who had colon cancer and financially had to be responsible for his medical bills. I tried to talk to him directly several times and he refused. I was only getting his messages from the frontline ladies. The one time I thought I would see his human side he showed none. My husband and I both need braces and we will definitely not go to him. Not giving him a cent more! Run the other way. Trust me there are professionals out there that have empathy and will work with you. We found someone highly recommended close by that will start our treatment and has a wonderful bedside manner. Extremely disappointed!

I've just started braces treatment. Dr. Tsintolas answered all my questions and concerns, it was very easy to make appointment and the staff are friendly, professional and welcoming. They offered an affordable payment plan for my treatment and I'm very happy I chose Dr. Tsintolas because he has so many years of experience, I am very pleased and looking forward to my future appointments. Update after 2 years in treatment with Dr. Tsintolas. I'm almost at the end of my treatment, and time flew by, I'm extremely happy with the results, now during covid times they take all the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe and that gives me peace of mind. We have had a great experience with Dr. T through the process of correcting our son's teeth. The visits are thorough, but efficient. Even through the pandemic, the level of care has not changed. They have offered a safe environment during these times. Our son's braces are due to come out in 3 weeks and we are excited to see the end result!

Our friend recommended us to Dr.Tsintolas' office 3 years ago. We had a great experience. The front desk ladies are always welcoming. The nurses are very friendly and Dr.Tsintolas is kind, patient and keeps a high standard for his work. Last spring when Covid-19 was bad in this area my son fell and hurt his front teeth badly. We called Dr.Tsintolas and was accepted into the office immediately with precautions. My son's braces got fixed and his teeth turned out Okay in a later x-ray exam at the dentist. We feel so grateful that we have Dr.T! And not until almost 1 year later did we know Dr.T was on his way to his anniversary celebration when he came back and saw my son. How we appreciate!.
