Dr. Chris grew up in Southern California where he was a competitive swimmer at West Covina High School and Cal Poly, Pomona where he completed his undergraduate degree. Lifeguarding in the summers, spending the winters as a ski instructor and surfing whenever possible, Dr. Chris grew up living the Southern California lifestyle. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Cal Poly, Dr. Chris attended dental school at the University of Southern California where he graduated in the top of his class. He continued on at USC to complete his orthodontic residency and earn a master's degree in craniofacial biology. Dr. Chris is still an avid skier and also enjoys photography, mountain biking, running, flying drones and helicopters (Dr. Chris is a licensed helicopter pilot), collecting and restoring antiques, and spending time with his wife, Winona.
An orthodontic specialist is a dentist who has completed an American Dental Association accredited graduate program in the specialty of orthodontics. A dentist who graduates from a specialty program becomes an orthodontic specialist who is eligible to become board certified through the voluntary examination process of The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). In essence, board certification is a process by which an individual orthodontist is voluntarily examined by his/her peers as to orthodontic knowledge and clinical skills. The passage of the examination process is a demonstration to the dental profession and the general public of the orthodontists pursuit of the continued proficiency and excellence in orthodontics.
The certification process involves a thorough written examination covering all areas of which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful passage allows the orthodontist to present treated cases which will be evaluated by expert examiners of the board during a clinical examination. Certification is now awarded for a time-limited period and the orthodontist must re-examine on a periodic basis to retain the board certified status.
The primary purpose of the American Board of Orthodontics is to evaluate the level of orthodontic care for the public by encouraging excellence in clinical practice and specialty education. In its mission statement, the board clearly defines four objectives:

I couldn't comment on the negative review that was left by Erika Rojas but her statement is false, couldn't be anything close to the truth. Dr. Cusimano and Staff have been nothing but professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I've tried my best for Erika to retrieve this false review but unfortunately she did it out of anger. On behalf of my daughter and myself, I'd like to apologize for Erika's actions and the inappropriate behavior she had with your staff.

If you are looking for an orthodontist look no further then Cusimano Orthodontics. My husband and I are both patients of Dr. Chris and trust no other orthodontist when it comes to our teeth. The doctor and the entire staff are truly incredible at what they do. They are so gentle, caring and most of all they always make me feel good after a visit. Because of them, I finally feel confident and happy when I smile and show my teeth. I am extremely grateful to Cusimano Orthodontics in its entirety.

This place is absolutely amazing, Dr. Chris Cusimano knows what he is doing he is brilliant and knows how much and amazing smile matters, he was very kind and helpful it was like he was your friend instead of just your doctor. His staff is absolutely amazing and super nice they take really good care of you I can't exaggerate how nice everyone there was enough. I highly recommend them, it is also a very fun environment it doesn't feel like you're at a doctors office it's very fun with the beach themes. I wanna give special thanks to them for my new amazing smile.

I have likely had one good day in my many years of visiting this office. As a female patient, I have felt uncomfortable around the doctor. The communication between the Dr. and the rest of staff is unfortunate. For example, I bet I have hd my teeth shaven down to straighten the tops of them 6 visits in a row. So much pain. When I got my braces on initially, they skipped teeth. There was loads of glue in between my teeth and gums. My gums were inflamed and swollen for a year. (That employee was fired, but it was months after when they realized what the employee did). The Dr. would start doing something new, tell me to tell him to stop if it hurts, and not stop until the other employee pointed out that I was bawling. My experience has been miserable, I have known plenty of people (mainly guys. Hmm) who have loved him. Do what you will with this information, I'm doing what I can to switch orthodontists.
