Dr. Windhorst moved with her family to St. Joseph when she was 6 months old and spent her childhood growing up in the community. She attended Bessie Ellison and Noyes Elementary Schools, Bode Middle School, and graduated from Central High School in 2002.
Dr. Windhorst graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. She started dental school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in the fall of 2006 and graduated in the spring of 2010 with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. While there, she received several honors, including induction into the national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon. She graduated Valedictorian of her class for achieving the highest level in both clinical skills and didactic coursework.
Dr. Windhorst went on to complete her orthodontic specialty training and earn her Masters of Science in Oral Biology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. During her orthodontic residency, she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Windhorst is an active member in several professional organizations at the local, state and national levels, including the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association,Northwest Missouri Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontics and Missouri Society of Orthodontists. She also hosts a monthly Women in Dentistry Meeting with other local female dental professionals.
After completing her education, Dr. Windhorst came back to her hometown of St. Joseph to practice orthodontics. Her strong work ethic revolves around treating every patient as if it was herself in treatment. In fact, the first Invisalign case she treated was on herself so she could make sure if worked before she recommended it to patients! She is sympathetic to patients going through treatment since she was treated with conventional metal braces, headgear, elastics and Invisalign during her life.
Dr. Windhorst is very involved in the community. She serves on various committees, including the Wyatt Park Baptist Church Council, and teaches Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. She is married to Andrew Windhorst who is a commercial lender at Commerce Bank, and they are the proud parents to 2 little boys, Landon and Crosby. Her parents, Donald and Sheryl Gossett, still live in St. Joseph and are an active part of the community. Her father is a local Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, and her mother is a retired dental hygienist.
When Dr. Windhorst is not working, she loves spending time with her family and watching sports. She has a niece and nephew that get mixed signals regarding which team to cheer for from her and her husband - she is a Missouri Tigers fan and he is a Kansas State Wildcats fan. At least they both cheer for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals! Dr. Windhorst and her husband are also the proud parents of two children -- Landon was born August 2015 and the newest addition to the family, Crosby, was born August 2018.

My name is Maggie Winder. I was born and raised in Atchison, Kansas. I met my husband, Chad, my first year in college, and we got married in 1996. We have three beautiful children. I started working as an orthodontic chairside assistant in 1994 and received my expanded function certificate in 2001. In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family and watching my children play sports. I couldn't be more blessed doing what I love every day.

Dr. Windhorst and her team come highly recommended. We have had the best care for our seven year old who needed braces. She took extra time to explain the process to him. Dr. W is excellent in her work and you are guaranteed to leave with a perfect smile. She gives 110% to make sure her patients are satisfied and happy. My two other kids will be headed her way before long! We are so blessed to have such a quality orthodontist in our community!

Dr Lauren and her team gave me my smile back. When I went in and was quoted 18 months (6/21) treatment I was like ok let's do this. My teeth were really messed up and after 14 months (8/30/22)of doing excatly what they required I have the perfect smile. When I got the brackets off and looked I was in tears instantly. I highly recommend this team to provide any ortho treatment.

I love this office!! They were always so sweet, caring, & patient. My treatment went a little longer than expected but I knew I was in the right hands. Having the options to have monthly payments made it so much easier for me. If I had to come back, I definitely would. & I recommend them to anyone!

Everyone at Choice Orthodontics is always very friendly and informative of what they are doing. We love that they have an office in Gallatin, that is closer to home for us! There is never a wait. When we get to our appointment, both in Gallatin and St Joe, we are in and out. Warren is 8 and has already finished Phase 1 of his orthodontic treatment. Dr Windhorst and her staff is exceptional!! Highly recommend!!

I needed my permanent retainer fixed, everywhere was trying to charge me crazy prices and couldn't get me in forever. I went into Choice and she had it fixed in 10 minutes! Great people and even better service. Would highly recommend Choice Orthodontics!

We love Choice Orthodontics! We have 6 kids and so far 4 have gone through orthodontic treatments at the office. Very friendly staff and Dr. W is the best! My kiddos all have beautiful smiles! My next kiddo is counting down the days until it's her turn :) Thank you all so much!

Choice orthodontics was great at getting me in when I was wanting a second opinion about ortho work. They were very thorough about what I needed and I made a decision that day to start my Invisilign treatment with them. When I couldn't make it to the office for an appt due to poor road conditions, they were able to schedule me for a virtual appt! I have been nothing but pleased with the care I have received from them, and have recommended them to many!
