Dr. Chiyo was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and graduated from Nippon Dental University. She moved to California with her family after receiving a dental degree and practicing in Tokyo for many years to pursue a different level of dentistry in the Bay Area.
She was a member of the clinical faculty at the University of California,San Francisco and University of Pacific for 4 years and was aprivate practice dentist in theEast Bay area. She was also appointed head of the Dental Department at the Contra Costa County Hospital and supervised the Dental Department for 9 years.
With over 20 years of experience, she says what motivates her is being able to interact with patients everyday alongside her talented staff. In her spare time, she is an avid runner, singer, and a mother of 3.

I had two older crowns whose margins were leaking and one was developing a cavity under crown. Dr. Shidara replace 2 crowns with 2 new beautiful porcelain crowns in only 3 hours! Dr. Shidara and her team are simply terrific! Thank you for superior care.

My recent visit (today) was for a crown replacement. They did a great job. Absolutely no pain or discomfort. And it was all done, including the making of the new crown, in a single (albeit long) visit. I would certainly recommend Dr. Shidara to anyone.'

Dr. Chiyo Shidara has taken care of me since starting in Pinole,Ca. She is an excellent dentist and a very caring, good hearted person. Her office staff is always very accommodating. She Rocks!!

The Chiyo Shidara Dental Office is amazing! I was stuck trying to complete my implants and Dentist Lewis Clayman in Pinole referred me. The very next week I had an appointment. They took care of my impressions and they were in within 2 weeks. Now I am chewing so much better. I am grateful for there kind and efficient service especially during these difficult times. I have been going to Dr. Shidara since she came to Pinole. She recently did a fantastic job updating a 27 year old repair on a chipped front tooth. You would never know that it was a chipped tooth. It looks perfect. Her staff is always responsive and friendly. Thank you!

Dr. Shidara is so attentive and kind to me! The staff is friendly, organized, and thoughtful . She are very cautious to her patients, which I appreciate being a type 1 diabetic I know she and her staff care about my safety. The office runs very soothly and they do a great job on my check ups.

She knows her stuff. She was able to determine a plan for a healthier teeth plan. Had a camera that can show what exactly she sees as a concern. All I can say is she is excellent! She helps my sister and fixed my moms teeth that had cracked. She is EXCELLENT!
