Children’s Dentistry of Morristown - Pediatric dentist in Morristown, NJ

A pediatric dentist is a dentist who has received advanced specialty training in meeting the dental needs of children from infancy to adolescence. Pediatric dentists, during the course of their post graduate training extensively study child development and psychology, behavior management, caring for children with special needs, methods of handling oral/facial trauma, anesthesia and sedation methods, as well as develop a comprehensive understanding of facial growth and dental development. In addition to all of this, pediatric dentists acquire the hands-on clinical skills to successfully treat the dental needs of every child at every stage of development. Pediatric dentists truly enjoy working with children and strive to make each of their dental care experiences a positive one.

Even before your child is born, their first set of teeth is already forming. In fact, before they are a year old their new teeth will start to appear in their mouth. This is why maintaining their oral health becomes such an important consideration at such an early point in their lives. According to the American Dental Association parents are advised to have their baby see the dentist around the time of their first birthday.

Your babys first teeth will start to appear in the 6 to 12 month range. While this is an extraordinary milestone, you need to be aware that your baby may find the experience a little bit uncomfortable. Teething can make them feel irritable. They may be fussy, have trouble sleeping, not want to eat, and be drooling quite a bit. While you are powerless to speed up the process of teething, there are a few things that you can do to soothe your baby as their new teeth are erupting into place. Common approaches to helping your baby feel more comfortable while getting their new teeth include teething rings or a cold spoon or moist gauze rubbed over their gums. Even for these few new teeth, it is important to establish an oral healthcare regimen for your baby. For information on when your babys first set of teeth will erupt into place, consult this time line from the American Dental Association.

Some children persist in sucking their thumbs or fingers beyond their preschool years. For these children the activity continues to be a source of comfort, relaxation, and security. It may even help them fall asleep at night. However, it is important as parents to be aware that if your childs thumb or finger sucking habit is still present when their permanent teeth come in, there is a greater chance of developing a bad bite. This means that if the activity has not ceased by the age of five or six years, you need to constructively and gently help your child stop the habit. It is also a good idea to have a comprehensive evaluation at this time. Your pediatric dentist can assess if there are any habit related alterations to the alignment of your childs teeth or jaws, or if it is affecting their speech or swallowing patterns. They can also discuss habit control strategies with you, as well as follow your childs bite and facial development as they grow. If there are recommendations that interceptive appliances or corrective orthodontic care is required, the pediatric dentist will discuss these with you.

The entire staff make our little one feel so comfortable on the chair. She has had to sit longer than expected a few times, and she has yet to complain thanks to the staff.

We brought my just-turned-two year-old to see Dr. Liz and we had the best experience. Assistant, Anthony, and Dr. Liz were so sweet with my daughter and kept her occupied and entertained and there were almost no tears! Her teeth are pearly white and has been much better about getting her teeth brushed. It definitely takes a special person to be able to do this with kids and the expertise at Children's Dentistry of Morristown is apparent!

We have taken my poor four-year-old to a few other pediatric dentists! He had a cavity and we were having a hard time finding a dentist that would not force nitrous. Our son does a great job in the chair and we knew it wasn't necessary. He had a first appointment today with them and loved it! They have this cute little pig (toy) that oinks that the kids get to hold during the appointment and honestly I could not stop laughing. He was so calm they were able to fill the cavity today with no nitrous and they also take Care Credit. We are obviously pretty picky because we have tried so many places and we are happy we finally found somewhere that is not forcing unnecessary procedures like a root canal (of course unless it's absolutely necessary) or using nitrous oxide. My husband is legally blind and they walked him and my son to and from the car because I was waiting in the car with our dogs. Dr Lisa, who is great with our son, called tonight to make sure he is doing OK after his first filling and actually gave me her cell phone number! We very much appreciate the level of attention.

We just had an amazing first experience at Children's Dentistry of Morristown! My daughter, who is almost 3 years old, truly had a great first dentist appointment. I was so nervous going into the appointment but the staff made her feel so comfortable and safe and made the entire experience fun and interesting. Thank you to Sonia and team for making my daughter actually want to brush her teeth and come back for her next appointment :)

The doctors and staff are kind, patient, and thorough. This is the best office our kids have gone to and we are very happy about our decision to go there. The office is also very clean, and they use up to date technology with cameras so that you can see what they are looking at as well. The doctors also explain procedures and take the time so that the kids and parents feel comfortable. My kids also like the tokens they receive after the visit.

My 2 year old broke half his front tooth on a Saturday night and CD of M took care of it right away in the best way possible. The best children's dentistry I've come across after shopping around so much! Highly recommend this facility! Staff is AMAZING and the doctors are so friendly with kids, make trips so much easier!

We were referred to Children's Dentistry of Morristown by our pediatrician and couldn't be happier. The introduction process was so smooth and we were talked through everything. Everyone made our daughter feel comfortable and calm. This was her first ever appointment and it went pretty well under all the circumstances. If this is how they treated her with her initial visit we will be overjoyed with our ongoing relationship with children's dentistry of Morristown

I can't say enough about the amazingly talented and patient team at Children's Dentistry of Morristown! I took my very nervous and strong willed 4 year old in for an appointment today. They were so incredibly patient and understanding of his fears, and were able to make modifications to a normal looking dentist visit so that he felt more comfortable. On top of taking extra time, talking through every step, (so he knew what was to expect), they met him where he was, let him stand for most of the exam/cleanings, and sought out stickers and toothbrushes that tailored to his interests to get him excited about it all. It was a great experience, and he left feeling so proud and ready for his next appointment. My older kids look forward to going to their dentist appts there as well because of the friendly, welcoming, efficient, and patient staff. Highly recommend for all ages!

Fantastic customer service from the moment I made the appointment over the phone until our appointment today. My daughter has not let anyone in her mouth in over a year and she had a full cleaning and X-rays. The hygienist and Dr Suzy were kind, patient and found a way to connect and comfort my daughter. Thank you all so much!

This office is the greatest children's dentist office I have ever been to. My daughter (age 4) was very nervous. By the end of the appointment, Dr. Allie had her laughing and excited to come back for her next cleaning. My son really loved his first dentist experience (also age 4). The staff was extremely warm and welcoming. I have referred this dental office to all of my daycare mom friends. I am just so impressed with the quality care they provided to my family. Looking forward to our visits every 6 months for years to come.

E is 10 years old and needed 2 teeth extracted. E is very fearful of going to the dentist. We had visited 2 previous dentists, including an oral surgeon. The dentist and the dental assistance were very Very patience with E. When he was asked if he felt anything, E stated he could not feel anything, but it hurt. Lol. The extractions were completed and E was still sitting in the chair. Absolutely amazing doctors and very friendly staff. The place to take your children for any dental work.
