We know early experiences can influence a childs feelings about dental care, lasting well into adulthood. With a safe and supportive space, using a tell-show-do approach with procedures, and offering lots of encouragement, we help children feel at ease in the dental environment.

  • Our Doctors: Our board-certified pediatric dentists Dr. Jo Cronly, Dr. John Flowers, Dr. Amanda Kuhn,Dr. Ashley Harman, and Dr. Kathryn Skarda are highlytrained specialists. Their post-dental school residencies ensured a solid understanding of the special oral health concerns of children, along with behavior management, caring for special needs patients and those with complex health issues, growth and development, and sedation. Each of our doctors is a parent, too, and dedicated to caring for your child as their own.
  • Our Team: We are proud of our team members. Whether in the front office or the clinic, they are professional, welcoming, and well-skilled. Like the doctors, our team loves personally getting to know each child and their family, and thrives on the real friendships that grow with the wonderful people we serve.
  • Our Focus: We believe childrens teeth are a reflection of a childs overall health, so we want all children to have healthy smiles and healthy bodies. We focus on preventive care, establishing healthy behaviors, and reinforcing them with praise and encouragement.
  • Our Approach: We expect kids to be kids, not little adults, and allow each to become comfortable at their own pace. If that means sitting on the floor and chatting for a while, were good with that! No victory is too small, and while we dont always win over every child at every visit, we eventually get there by maintaining a calm, happy, and supportive environment. Earning a childs trust, and his orher wonderful smile, is our greatest reward!

my family is new to the area - relocating from out of state and my son was suffering terribly with a toothache- up all night wailing and screaming for 2 nights. I called in the hopes that they could see him for an emergency apt same day or at least the following day. I was told that the next opening was in 2 weeks! There are so many dentists there! Six dentists! Really? My mom worked in the dental field for years and I'm aware that all offices allow time for emergency visits. Maybe they reserve those for established patients? i was able to get an appointment at another office and I am so grateful- a dental office for children should be even more accommodating if a child is suffering. With so many dentists there it seems unlikely that not one person was available to help us for 2 whole weeks. So incredibly unprofessional and so disappointing.

My kids have been going here since they were little. Dr. Flowers is amazing! He is great with the kids and doesn't rush into orthodontics like some dentists do. He is very practical which I really like. Customer service is wonderful and it's just always a great experience. I would highly recommend Children's Dentistry of VA.

Was referred out when River Run indicated that my 4 year old may have a cavity but "didnt have the tools to help." This place took a look and was able to confirm it wasn't anything that needed action. I appreciate their honesty and being able to work with someome so young.

Our visit this time my son was a little more aware and trepidatious of the toothbrush tooth. So Nurse Sutton offered him an alternative to a regular toothbrush. When Nurse Sutton did this it was an absolute game changer and immediate mood change for my son! This practice location as always went above and beyond to make my son feel at ease. The front desk staff was amazing as always and we LOVE Dr. Harman! Thank you so much Children's Dentistry of Virginia for an awesome experience, AGAIN!
