As a father, Dr. Milius understands a parents concerns and desires: he and our team listen to and engage with parents and caregivers to learn what they expect and want. Because were a family-friendly practice, we welcome parents into the treatment areas and encourage their questions and participation.
Our team at Childrens Dentistry of Lincoln is skilled at connecting with children in a loving and caring manner. Its not unusual to find one, or more, of us crouched down chatting with a little one, offering encouragement and reassurance. We are patient, kind, and compassionate; we take time to help children feel at ease in our space!
A large part of our practice is focused on prevention and education. It is important for families to understand the role oral health plays in overall wellness, and how best to maintain and keep a healthy mouth. We want our patients to grow up with good dental hygiene habits, so they enjoy a lifetime of great smiles.
Each of us understands the need to communicate in a clear, non-judgmental, and encouraging manner. We use kid-friendly terms and a Show-Tell-Do approach for procedures. At the same time, we help parents understand what we are going to do and answer all their questions.
Dr. Tom Milius became certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2008. He finished his pediatric dentistry specialty training at the UNMC College of Dentistrys postgraduate residency program in 2006. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska, and upon graduation, he received the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Award.
Before his dental education, Dr. Milius completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska in 2000. At Nebraska, he was a member of the football team. He also belongs to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, and Lincoln District Dental Association.
Throughout his training, Dr. Milius has been very involved in the community. He has actively participated in various childrens health fairs and schools throughout the city of Lincoln and Omaha to encourage good oral health. During his residency, Dr. Milius was a member of the Boys Town National Research Craniofacial Team. He presented research at the annual American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry meeting.
He participated in Give Kids a Smile Dental Days at the College of Dentistry in Lincoln and Alliance, Nebraska, during which free dental work is donated to underprivileged children. He has participated in many youth speaking engagements, as well as youth mentoring programs. He has also been involved in coaching youth sports.
Dr. Milius was raised in Lincoln. He is married to Kimberly. Together they have three children: Nolan, Lily, and Maclain. He enjoys sports, spending time outdoors, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Kaynan is married to Andrew, has a beautiful daughter named Bexley, and has two dogs, Oliver and Emmet. Kaynan enjoys spending time with her family and taking Oliver and Emmet on walks. She is a big fan of mac and cheese.
Lindseys favorite thing about working at CDoL is hearing how well each kids visit goes even if the patient is nervous at first. You may hear Lindsey laughing a lot at our office because that is her favorite activity.
Lindsey is married to Miles, and they have a Golden Retriever named Watson. Lindsey and Miles also have chickens that keep them busy. Lindsey grew up with four sisters and really enjoys spending time with family. She is also a runner and likes to do crafts.
Amanda lives in Lincoln with her husband Taylor and their dog, Dex. In her spare time, you can find her hanging out with friends and family, going to the beach, or skiing in the winter. She likes to shop, dance, and work out. Her favorite food is Mexican and she loves the fall.
Nicole has two children and a dog. She likes to be active and be outdoors, especially on trips to Colorado. Nicole also enjoys yoga and listening to music. Mostly though, Nicole likes hanging out or playing games with her family and friends. Her favorite time of year is the 4th of July, and her favorite food is pizza. One fun fact about Nicole is she can speak with a lot of different accents!
Taylor likes to spend time with her boyfriend Curtis and their two dogs, Ava and Molly. When Taylor is not at our office, she likes to scrapbook. Her favorite food is breakfast food, which she really enjoys from Cracker Barrel.
