At Childrens Dentistry of Knoxville, we are uniquely positioned to meet the ever-changing needs of kids in our area. As your child grows and changes, so do their dental needs. As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Darryl Phillips focuses on caring for children ages one to six. As more permanent teeth start to grow, its a great time to transition to Dr. Mark Britton, whose focus is on children and adolescents. Were proud to offer this type of customized dental care for our patients and their families.

Dr. Darryl was inspired to go into pediatric dentistry after spending time in a pediatric dental clinic with Dr. Ken Carruth, one of his favorite dental school professors. Dr. Carruth saw Dr. Darryls talent for working with children and his encouragement led Dr. Darryl to the career he loves.

After graduating from the University of Tennessee, he attended The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis. After graduation, Dr. Darryl chose to continue his education, completing an additional two-year residency program in pediatric dentistry at UT Memphis, during which he received extensive clinical, emergency, and surgical training. Shortly after finishing his training, Dr. Darryl returned to East Tennessee to establish Childrens Dentistry of Knoxville in August 2006.

My goal is to establish a great relationship with my patients, so that they can see that going to the dentist is not something to be afraid of, Dr. Darryl shares. I love being able to have a positive impact on the way kids feel about going to the dentist now and into adulthood.

When he is not saving the world one tooth at a time, Dr. Darryl enjoys water-skiing and wakeboarding on Norris Lake in the summer, and he doesnt miss an opportunity to snow ski in the winter. Dr. Darryl loves traveling and spending time with his wife, Jennifer, who works with him in the practice.

Dr. Mark Britton is from Madisonville, Tennessee, and he attended dental school at The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis. After graduation, Dr. B completed extensive training in cosmetic dental restorations and pulpal therapy (root canals) at The Las Vegas Institute and The Scottsdale Center for Advanced Dental Studies. He also chose to undergo additional pediatric dental training through a mini-residency at the University of Floridas dental school.

I love working with children, getting them off to the right start, and giving them tools for healthy teeth for a lifetime, Dr. B says. I believe educating children and adolescents about good habits is the key to a lifetime of good oral health.

Dr. B and his wife, Summer, keep busy with their four beautiful childrenone son and three daughters! You can also count on Dr. B, a huge Vols fan, to keep the office in the know on all things UT football and basketball related. He is an avid soccer fan and enjoys following World Cup Soccer. In his free time, Dr. B enjoys playing soccer, snow skiing, and fishing on the Tellico River.

Dr. Hollingsworth, or Dr. Jim, as youll hear him called around the office, is a native Knoxvillian. Dr. Jim attended Farragut High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for undergraduate studies and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry in Memphis for dental school. While in dental school, Dr. Hollingsworth received scholarships and awards for leadership because of his involvement in several academic organizations. Dr. Hollingsworth served as both the president of the Honor Council and the largest dental school organization, the American Student Dental Association. Dr. Hollingsworth is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, and the Second District Dental Society. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Katie. In his spare time, Dr. Hollingsworth and his wife like to spend time with their families and be anywhere outdoors with their dogs, Tucker and Sadie.

Every now and then, even superhero dentists take a break. Thats when Dr. Mary Helen Moore steps in. Youll see her around the office if Dr. Darryl or Dr. B are away for vacations, educational conferences and meetings, or any other adventure. We are so glad to have Dr. Moore as part of our team, as we know that she shares our passion to help children have a great dental experience. Also, we know that with her on board, we can ensure your child continues to receive timely and uninterrupted care throughout the year.

Our patients love seeing Dr. Moore because many of them find out that they know her from other activities that shes involved with in our community. She is married to Dr. Rick Moore, who is an endodontist in Farragut, and their children, Joseph and Ashley Kate, were two of Dr. Darryls first patients when he opened Childrens Dentistry of Knoxville!

We just had our first visit for my 2 toddlers (one with auditory sensory sensitivities) and it was AMAZING! The staff were kind and patient, the waiting room kept my kiddos entertained, and they had so many great methods to make the experience so smooth and comfortable. Heather, our dental hygienist, took her time to show the kids all the tools and let them feel them on their fingers before using them. She did a wonderful job and was so kind! I was nervous about taking our kids for the first time to the dentist, so if you're like me...I highly recommend this office for your first experience!

I want to start this by saying my son is autistic and has lots of sensory issues. We came here after it was suggested by our DIDD case worker and I was skeptical at first. My son "hates" the dentist and every visit before turned into a meltdown. From the minute I called this office, I felt welcomed and heard. Every concern was met with compassion and options. I wish I knew the lady's name who answered our call, because she was so warm, polite, and patient with me. Today, we arrived for his appointment and he's nervous. Jamie brings us back, xrays are done, and she listened and answered every single question my son had for her. He enjoyed the weight of the xray vest so you know what she did? She let him keep it on for the entire visit. Never rushed him, never got annoyed with him, she was fabulous! Every move she made, she would stop and explain it step by step for him and he slowly calmed down, eventually settling in and actually let her clean his teeth! I could actually relax and just watch, instead of holding him down and trying to keep him from yanking her tools out of her hands. I can't say enough about Jamie's professionalism and handling of my son's unique needs. Dr. Hollingsworth was also super gentle with him and explained what needed to be done throughly and laid out all of our options, allowing me to decide what was best for our needs. Finally, the lady we talked to on the way out, I also neglected to get her name, was so kind and generously let my son write a note for her wall because he liked her collection above her desk. He wrote "Best Dentist" and my heart was so happy. In the car, he said he still "hates" going to the dentist, but he can deal with it if we keep going here. That's the biggest win possible in my book!! From start to finish, best experience we could ask for. Above and beyond expectations! Thank you to everyone we have interacted with so far, you have no idea how much this experience means to us, both the patient and the over protective mom. I think my son's note summed it up perfectly, "Best Dentist".

Great staff and great dentist! I had a misunderstanding of how to pay my bill. I thought I could pay my bill on care credit, not realising that was a separate thing. I was having so many issues on the site (because I don't have care credit lol) that finally I called the office. Rosalind took the time to explain everything to me (that care credit is it's own way to pay) and she was able to take my payment over the phone. She was so nice, understanding, and didn't mind me being technologically impaired. Thank you'

First time visiting this dentist. My 4 to year old did fantastic and can't wait to go back. They were so patient and friendly from the time we walked in till the time we left. I even had my 9 month old with me and went ahead and scheduled his 1st appt. Way better than our previous dentist. Highly recommend.

The dental assistant my kids had today was so sweet & patient! I didn't ask for her name/remember what she said. But she was really good with both of them. The dentist my kids saw was really nice & patient as well.

Love taking my children here. They are so easy with them and kind. We have always had a good experience each time. I do wish now that it's been two years since March 2020, that things like not being able to come inside to the waiting room but instead having to wait inside our car would change, plus masks. Now especially since most everywhere else is back to normal.

The staff at Children's Dentistry are so great to us! They treat my son like he is the only reason they are there. They take the time to comfort him and welcome him into an environment that he is uncertain of and make all of his dental experiences feel like a fun trip to the park or something. The facility is loaded with features and amenities that make your visit fantastic!

I brought my daughter in for dental surgery on 01/25/2022. Dr. Phillips went above and beyond more than my words can describe. The Anesthesiologist Dr. Watson and his nurse Rachel are fabulous people. They are all prompt, caring, and professional. You can tell they they love what they do. My daughter had numerous fillings, and the way he executed the procedure was flawless. Everything about this Dentistry is superb, and Knoxville is lucky to have such an amazing team to call it's own. Thank you Dr. Phillips for all that you do. If anyone is looking for a pediatric dentist, look no further!
