Our staff is highly skilled, uniquely trained and aims to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each child! Our team members have specialized training, multiple certifications and years of experience treating kids with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in technology and advancements by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars taught on CPR/BLS, HIPAA compliance, annual Bloodborne Pathogens certification, and WISHA compliance.
Amanda is originally from Texas and comes from an Army family. She attended Austin Dental Assistant School in 2012 and has worked in the dental field ever since. She moved to WA State in May 2018 with her husband who is stationed at JBLM. She has 2 fur babies named Kylo and Loki. Amanda loves spending time with her family, going to the gym, and exploring all Washington has to offer.
Emily is a Puyallup native, received her Dental Assisting certificate from Clover Park Technical College in 2011 and is a Registered Dental Assistant in WA State. She developed a passion for working with children during her externship here and has been with our office ever since! She enjoys giving kids positive dental experiences to help them establish strong dental foundations that will hopefully last their entire lives. She is CPR and DANB certified and is continually looking for ways to improve her skills and dental knowledge. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and two cats, Khaleesi and Sheldon.
Nicole was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. She graduated from Clover Park Technical College in 2010 and is a Registered Dental Assistant in WA State. Having started her career in General Dentistry, she has now worked with us for over 6 years. During that time, Nicole has increased her dental knowledge and skills as pertaining to childrens oral health. Nicoles goals are to welcome your children to a fun environment, help them feel comfortable while providing good dental care, and teaching them the importance of a healthy smile. Nicole and her husband were blessed with their first son, Ethan, in June 2017. She loves to spend her free time with family and her two dogs. Nicole enjoys cooking, having family movie/game nights, and being able to see Ethan grow.
Heather moved to WA State when her dad was on active duty in the Army and was stationed at JBLM. She graduated from Steilacoom High School in 2004 and from CWU with a Bachelors degree in Family and Consumer Sciences in 2009. She is a Registered Dental Assistant in WA State and has been working in the dental field for 3 years. Heather has a son named Logan who attends Chloe Clark Elementary here in Dupont and his sports schedule keeps her very busy on the weekends. Heather and Logan are hardcore 12s, Go Seahawks!!
Dr. Takenaka is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member of numerous local and national dental societies, including the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, Pierce County Dental Society, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry. She is committed to pursuing a wide range of continuing education to enable her to provide the best possible care for her patients.
In her spare time, Dr. Takenaka enjoys giving back to the local community. She is a proud supporter of Chloe Clark Elementary PTA, Cherrydale Primary School, Pioneer Middle School, Steilacoom High School, and is a team sponsor for the Patriot Athletic League in Dupont.
Dr. Takenaka met and married her husband while they were both dental school students in New York. They are strong believers in animal rescue and second chances. They have a cat named Gorgeous George that they adopted from an animal rescue group in California. They enjoy hiking, riding their bikes, reading English mystery novels, and going on long car drives to fun destinations throughout the United States.

Having your 4 year old sedated and numbed is a tough experience for the child. It's also miserable for parents to watch. The dentist pushing parents aside, so we don't create a "circus" (her word) is awful. It's unreasonable to shew us away and imply we can't comfort our young child in a time of great unease and fear for them.

Cannot speak highly enough about this dentist and staff! As a military family, it's so hard when you move to find quality services in the new area you move to. I'm so so glad this was the place we went to. The receptionist was friendly and understanding in me dropping the ball on calling the prior dental office and helpful about getting previous documents from our prior dentist. She is familiar with TriCare and covered benefits. The hygienist made my daughter feel welcome and comfortable, and the dentist is a 12 on a scale of 1-10. She explained everything going on with my daughter thoroughly, answered questions and told me what I could do to help the issue. Also, they are only about 10 minutes outside of the main post gate. Cannot speak highly enough about the people here. This will definitely be where I bring all my kids during our time here!

Our family loves this dentist office! Everyone in the office is super pleasant and kind. The kids look forward to not having to brush their teeth for the night following their appointment. The staff works hard to get all three of my children in on the same day for my convenience. Definitely recommend!

We love this office. It is such a positive experience for all of us. My kids never complain about going and do so well there because everyone is so nice to them. Even my 18 month old did great! I love how the dentist explains everything and shows the crays as she explains what's going on. Would highly recommend dentist and hygienists.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Dr. Takenaka was very open and honest with her review of my children's teeth and mouth health. She explained me to why she would not do things another pediatric dentist wanted to do. And, educated me on why she wanted to perform some worth on my children's teeth. In both situations, she put my children's care above everything. Very wonderful experience!

Dr. Takenaka and her team were amazing. Dr. T. was compassionate, caring, and had great advice for us. She is one of the very best dentists I've ever had for our daughter. I love the people there, the welcoming environment, space (because we had a wheelchair), and the ease of access to the dental clinic. All in all, I couldn't be happier with our visit, and will definitely return.

Dr. T and staff are very professional and friendly! They are great with my kids and talked to them throughout their cleaning step by step. My son is usually scared and crying, but this was literally his first time remaining calm the whole time.

Dr. Takenaka and her staff are absolutely amazing! My son needed some dental work, because of the extent, and his age she suggested that we do everything under anesthesia in one visit. Dr. Kloss (the anesthesiologist) and his nurse were also amazing during the whole process. Definitely 5+ stars for both of them. I really liked that we were able to have everything done in her office, and didn't have to do this at the hospital for the anesthesia. I also loved that I was able to be with my son until he was all the way under anesthesia and was back with him before he woke up. These guys are the dynamic duo, I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone.

Dr. Takenaka and her staff are absolutely wonderful. I took my daughter for her first visit, and this is hands down the best experience she's ever had at any clinic. They are incredibly patient with kids, and they make the environment welcoming for kids as well as parents. Definitely recommend.

Being a single parent in the military has been tough. Coming and going has made it especially difficult to get my children's dental care taken care of. My daughter had begun complaining of tooth pain. I googled the nearest office to me. I called and the receptionist was extremely nice and got us an appointment right away. She even emailed me the paperwork to make coming in easier. At my appointment, the office was really warm and welcoming. Everyone had masks on and was 6 feet away from one another. I knew that my daughter needed a lot of work and as Dr. Takenaka was doing her exam, I didn't feel judged. She knew that the issues were urgent. She then got together with her team and made us an appointment for the following morning DESPITE being over booked because of COVID. I am beyond happy about the service that I received while there. The entire team was caring, respectful, patient and very experienced. As long as I'm stationed here, I will use this office for a children's dental needs.
