A pediatric dentist is a dentist who completed an additional 2 years of education specifically pertaining to the treatment of pediatric patients, as well as those with special health care needs. Upon completion of residency, pediatric dentists are well equipped to manage all aspects of pediatric dental care, including behavior management, complex medical needs, as well as sedation management of pediatric patients.
At Childrens Dentistry, we provide care for your child in a calm, supportive, and kid friendly environment. As pediatric dentists, we provide care for infants, adolescents, and teenagers, as well as adults with special healthcare needs, focusing on prevention to help your child develop a healthy smile. We understand that your child has his or her own specific needs, and strive to provide quality care, taking the time needed for your child to feel comfortable and ensure they have a positive dental experience. Although we pride ourselves on a short wait time for our patients, we have a play area with a large wooden ship and ocean themed dcor, as well a well-stocked selection of childrens books and magazines.
Dr. Gibson grew up in Hanover, Virginia and graduated magna cum laude with University Honors from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in Psychology in 2010. He continued his education and received his DDS from Virginia Commonwealth University/MCV in 2014. He then obtained his pediatric training at VCU/MCV, graduating in 2016 with a Masters of Science in Dentistry and Specialty Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Gibson is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Virginia Society of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association as well as the Virginia Dental Association and the Hanover Dental Study Club.
Dr. Gibson is married to his high school sweetheart, Emilie, and lives in Mechanicsville. They have two sons, Carter and Beckett. In his spare time Dr. Gibson enjoys spending time with his family and their two dogs, Scout and Maddy. He also enjoys the outdoors especially being on the water, mountain biking, soccer, snowboarding and watching ice hockey. Go Caps!
Dr. Erika was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. From her birth until college she moved over seven times throughout the southeast. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. degree in 2006. In 2011, she obtained her D.M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. She then completed her training at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 2014, with a Masters of Science in Dentistry and Specialty Certificate in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Erika is married to Nathan Webb, MD, MS, FACOG, who is faculty at The Medical College of Virginia in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. They have two sons, Arlo (born in 2014) and Wyeth (born in 2016) and a rat terrier, Trixie (born in 2003). They love living in and exploring Church Hill.

We are new to the area and my two children just started going here. My daughter had a dental emergency today and they were so nice and made time for us without an appointment. My daughter was very nervous but they put her at ease and walked her through the process. I am very grateful to them. Best children's dentist we've ever had!

I'm super later getting to this review, but I brought my son in to just get a care plan so I could take him to a urgent care dentist for his tooth that took my insurance because unfortunately I couldn't find anywhere within a hour from me to either take my insurance or have a appointment available asap etc. So they pretty much got us in the next day and THE ENTIRE STAFF WAS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! I paid cash for the visit and after they reviewed everything with me I asked what the chances of getting it fixed that day if I could swing the price, which they understood the pain of having to return the next day further into the city etc and they hooked my son up right there. Easy quick and very reasonable priced when it comes to your child not being in pain anymore! The dentist also her heart was radiating for these kids, I hope she has a very successful career and never loses that interest in kids wild story's.

Dr Gibson and his team are AMAZING! They are kind, funny, and so charming with my son, that I wish I could go to them too! My son needed a cavity filled, and it was such a wonderful, positive experience for him, that he can't wait to go back. I'm so glad that I found them, and I tell all my friends with children as well.

Dr. Erika is the best! Referred to her for pulling of a tooth. My daughter was in pain but still had positive things to say, so much now my son wants to go to the dentist :)

We love love love this dentistry for our children. Dr. Gibson and their staff are great people and are amazing with children. Our son enjoys playing with the huge month with teeth in the lobby! They also have a big pirate ship too. This place makes going to the dentist fun!!!

Hands down, the best pediatric dentist I could have ever asked for!! Dr. Andrew Gibson is absolutely amazing with both kids and parents. He is very thorough and makes the entire process an excitement for the kids! All of the staff is super friendly and a just a joy to be around PLUS the waiting room has LOTS to keep the little ones entertained. Let's just say that we get excited to go the dentist! I highly recommend Dr. Andrew Gibson and the entire staff at Children's Dentistry!

I highly recommend this dentistry! Such wonderful staff who truly love and value each child. Dr. Gibson did a fantastic job of making sure our 15 month old felt comfortable and safe during her first dental trip. The staff did a great job of explaining the process to us and helped us through payment options as well. I love that the office has such a homely feel to it where your child can play while waiting instead of anxiously waiting! Thanks for making it so inviting for our family!

Do your kids LOVE going to the dentist? If not, you are going to the wrong practice. I can't tell my boys they have dentist appointments or they ask me incessantly how long until the appointment. Dr. Gibson is amazing with kids and the office staff is super friendly. Children's Dentisty is hands down the best place for any kiddos and their teeth in Richmond!

Believe it or not, this unassuming practice is home to some of the most beloved pediatric dentists in the entire Richmond area. We LOVE Dr. Erika. Not only does she have the exact vibrant energy, warmth and assertive yet calm and reassuring control that every parent and child needs when visiting a dentist but she genuinely loves her patients and her job. She is the kind of dentist that makes you wish she could be your dentist too. She is also a dedicated mother who is easy to relate to as a parent. Everyone in this practice is so incredibly friendly, professional and amiable you can only do right if you take your children here.

I take three of my children here and will take my fourth when he's old enough. They are gentle, silly when needed, and extremely knowledgeable. My oldest daughter (5) had a damaged tooth that needed to come out and Dr. Gibson was so impressive with how he worked with her and showed her anything she asked about to make sure she was comfortable and knew what was going on. She didn't cry at all and it was an unbelievable experience! I bring everyone and they all have fun playing on all the the structures and they even ask to go to the dentist because it's their favorite doctor! I can't recommend them enough!

We love this practice! All doctors and staff are friendly and accommodating! This was our toddler's first dental visit and we saw Dr. Gibson who is GREAT with kids and very knowledgeable. We highly recommend this practice!
