Dr. Joanne Leungs focus is to provide both the best dental treatment and experiences to children. By providing many distractions and attractions to children, Dr. Joanne attempts to make dental experiences fun for her patients. She only recommends what she thinks is the best to her patients. The goal of Dr Joanne and her team is to make both the parent and children happy and satisfied when leaving her office.
Dr. Joanne grew up in Southern California and completed her undergraduate education at UC Berkeley double majoring in Molecular Cell Biology and Economics. She received her dental degree at University of Southern California and was one of the few students being selected on the Deans List. After graduation, she practiced as a general dentist for two years and gained expertise in performing procedures including root canals, third molar extractions, and crowns, etc. From her work experience, she realized that she enjoys treating children the most. She went on to complete her advanced training in Pediatric Dentistry at the world renowned University of California at San Francisco and Children Hospital, Oakland, as well as earning a Master of Science Degree in Oral and Craniofacial Science at UCSF.
Dr. Joanne is a board certified Pediatric Dentist, and is a member of California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Association of Pediatric Dentisty, Tri-County Dental Society, California Dental Association, and American Dental Association.
We aim to create the best environment for your children in dental office so to give them the best possible experience they can get. We have iPads in reception area for parents, patient and siblings to surf web and play all kinds of games. In addition, we let your children to pick his/her favorite movie to watch in each treatment room. We also have Playstation 4 in every single room with different popular games for your children to choose from. We also have different books, toys, color pencils available to them whenever they want.
Some children are given nitrous oxide/oxygen, or what you may know as laughing gas, to relax them for their dental treatment. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is a blend of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is given through a small breathing mask which is placed over the childs nose, allowing them to relax, but without putting them to sleep. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recognizes this technique as a very safe, effective technique to use for treating childrens dental needs. The gas is mild, easily taken, then with normal breathing, it is quickly eliminated from the body. It is non-addictive. While inhaling nitrous oxide/oxygen, your child remains fully conscious and keeps all natural reflexes.
I.V. Sedation is recommended for apprehensive children, very young children, and children with special needs that would not work well under conscious sedation. The dentist performs the dental treatment in our office with the child anesthetized under I.V. sedation, which is administered and monitored by an anesthesiologist.
Radiographs detect much more than cavities. For example, radiographs may be needed to survey erupting teeth, diagnose bone diseases, evaluate the results of an injury, or plan orthodontic treatment. Radiographs allow dentists to diagnose and treat health conditions that cannot be detected during a clinical examination. If dental problems are found and treated early, dental care is more comfortable for your child and more affordable for you.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends radiographs and examinations every six months for children with a high risk of tooth decay. On average, most pediatric dentists request radiographs approximately once a year. Approximately every 3 years, it is a good idea to obtain a complete set of radiographs, either a panoramic and bitewings or periapicals and bitewings.
We used the latest digital imaging for our patients. Digital xray reduces the radiation exposure up to 50%; it also eliminates the use of toxic chemicals that are used with film development. We are particularly careful to minimize the exposure of their patients to radiation. Lead body aprons and shields will protect your child. Todays equipment filters out unnecessary x-rays and restricts the x-ray beam to the area of interest.

Brought my daughter here today, nice place, friendly staff. They have ps4 in the rooms for the kids. Also she was able to watch toy story as she was getting her check up. Very clean and roomy place, I liked it and so did my daughter.

It's a clean and modern clinic, the doctors, nurses and receptionist are all friendly and helpful. My son smiled after he got a rattle toy after seeing the doctor. But recently we had to wait for over 40mins to get to see the doctor.
