Dr. Yarber spent her childhood in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska and attended high school in Federal Way, Washington. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2002. She continued her education in dentistry at the USC School of Dentistry, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During her studies, she was the recipient of the Doctors Out To Care Award, the USC Century Award for Academic Achievement, the American Dental Hygiene Association Award for Commitment & Service, and the Colgate-Palmolive Outstanding Leadership Award.
Upon graduation, she was appointed a position as a member of the USC School of Dentistry faculty and served as a liaison for the recruitment and retention of underserved students into the profession of dentistry.
With a passion for the oral health care needs of children, Dr. Yarber completed an Advance Pediatric Dental Residency at Columbia University College of Dental Medicines Harlem Hospital based program in New York. In 2010, she received the Harlem Hospital New York City Health and Hospital Corporation Women in History Award for Outstanding Commitment to Patient Care.
With commitment and enthusiasm for outreach and service, Dr. Yarber is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, National Dental Association, and serves as a member of the Angel City Dental Society.
Dr. Turner, a board-certified pediatric dentist, grew up in Los Angeles, California and is the youngest of six children. She attended high school in Moreno Valley, California, graduating in 1996. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She attended Howard University College of Dentistry, where she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree. During her studies, she was the recipient of the NDA Colgate Palmolive Scholarship, Blue and Gold Alumni Scholarship, and on the National Deans List. She graduated Summa cum laude and became a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in October 2012.

Dr. Jessica Tsai is a dentist anesthesiologist who is trained in a wide range of anesthesia techniques helpful to dental practices. She provides the comfort and safety of monitoring, sedation, and general anesthesia for dental patients treated in surgery centers and private offices. Having completed a hospital residency at Loma Linda University, Dr. Tsai has advanced training in clinical pharmacology and emergency care. This allows her to competently assess and manage the risks inherent to dental anesthesia and to provide treatment for adult and pediatric populations.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA in Neuroscience (Cum Laude), Dr. Tsai continued at UCLA to complete her dental education. During her time as a dental student, she consistently earned Deans List recognition, scholarships, and many exceptional performance reports. Dr. Tsai graduated with honors and achieved top board scores.
After several years in private practice, Dr. Tsai continued her education with residency training in Anesthesiology at the School of Dentistry of Loma Linda University in Southern California. Here she was trained in all modalities of medical anesthesiology, with a focus in caring for pediatric and adult patients with special needs and complex medical conditions. She is certified in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support with the American Heart Association.
Dr. Tsai is a member of American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Western Los Angeles Dental Society.
Dr. Michelle Brown, a board-certified general dentist, grew up in Los Angeles, CA in the Leimert Park area. She attended the all-girls school, Marlborough School, graduating with honors in 2008. She competitively played Tennis in Southern California and nationally throughout childhood, earning a full scholarship to college in Washington,DC. She graduatedsumma cum laudeandphi beta kappafrom Howard University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology in 2012.
During her time at USC she was a member of the Special Patients Selective, Stsudent National Dental Association (SNDA), and the Dental Humanitarian Outreach Program (DHOP). DHOP allowed her to travel internationally to Nairobi, Kenya and Treasure Island, Jamaica to provide dental services for the underserved.
Upon graduating in 2016 from USC, Dr. Brown has spent the past years working in community-based dentistry for a non-profit in the greater Los Angeles area before joining the Childrens Dental Specialist family.

My two boys got here they been going here for almost 2 years and they always book my boys work 3 months ahead they are always busy, maybe they need more workers to do major work like fillings extra .out of the 2years, this the first time My son tooth hurt and i could tell it couldn't wait till 2moths out, it would probably turn in to a root canal and the older lady that works in the front the one with the ugly attitude and that always looks like she hates her job ( life too short to be negative and miserable ) they other younger male as well he snappy sometimes , idk what it is lol but those two are the only one that are ew there (maybe they get paid less for being receptionist) who knows what's up there a** . but all other workers are so nice and welcoming and beautiful people great Energy I think that's why I don't change dentist , SO FAR ! But I would like for scheduling not to be so far out and if it is an emergency like my son is feeling discomfort now , they need to figure someway to get them in there .

Was once a nice place. The new staff is lousy! Incompetent, poor service and communication , terrible phone manners. Not sure what quick certificate trade school they came from, but they aren't worth the minimum hourly wage.

I don't recommend this dentist, new stuff is really rude and and they take 4 months to give me a appointment to remove my son infecand tooth when they new the problem. if you get 10 minutes late they won't see you they just care about seeing more patients they can so they can make more money

This dentist place is no good ! All they want is money, for my child they told me what she was going to get and they added way more then they were supposed too and the people in the front especially that one guy is so rude! Im not ever coming back here, i really recommend going somewhere else!

Been coming here with my niece for years and the entire staff is phenomenal, from the front desk girl to the checkout guy (who is always very polite), to Dr. Yarber/Turner/Brown, and all the assistants! If you want great dentistry done right for your kids then bring them here, but leave your attitudes at the door...bad enough these nice people have to deal with unruly kids! Definitely recommend!!!

They helped me immediately when my private insurance wouldn't! It's a team of beautiful ladies working on the patients in the back after the front office is disarming you with their great customer service! Recommended highly! I will be putting out the word for them. DO bring your babies so they can be pain free too!

Despite the good reviews, we had a terrible experience with Children's Dental Specialist Southbay, dental office located by address 20930 Bonita St. Y, Carson, CA 90746. The office is dark like a nightclub. Treatment area is not separated for each patient. If there is already a crying patient in that room, then your baby will see and hear that. Don't even try to enter there as your little one will be scary forever to meet with any dentist. After the first visit they did a checkup and x-rays for $100. As a next step it is supposed to be discussing a treatment plan and options as it is for what we went to this office and paid for, but in case of this dental office the employee informed me that they are going to send me an email message with all necessary paperwork. We waited 2 weeks and I called them multiple times to send me necessary paperwork to go ahead. Each time I called them, they were lying about they would send all necessary paperwork. Last time the guy lied very politely that everything already was sent. I think this is not a good dental office to trust them and let them treat your kids.

I do not recommend this dental office to your children. They planned to provide additional treatments for my child, just for their money. It was clear that this dental office had planned to do an extra not necessary treatment when we did a visit in another office to double check it. Also it's hard to get from them what kind of treatment they are going to provide. You must ask them ten times. I want to help parents to be careful when they are looking for good dental offices with good reviews. Not all offices with excellent reviews are good enough.

This place is a hidden gem! I learned of this office from Carson411 group on Facebook. I'm so glad I did because I've found my kids new dental place. Staff was awesome, respectful of the Covid regulations and had a positive vibe. Got lucky to be serviced by Sai, Z and the rest of the amazing staff. My son was cared for by Z and Dr.Turner. Z did a great job at letting my son feel so comfortable while doing x-ray and cleaning the whole visit. Dr.Turner kindly explained what work my child needs and made me feel comfortable as well. I highly recommend this place. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

The FRONT DESK ,same people who answers the phone are EXTREMELY RUDE and does not seem to apply BASIC manners. It was our first time today and I was so close to turning back. I planned on leaving one star and explain myself on details how rude they we were today on my review here and not planning in coming back again. BUT Yesenia helped my daughter in the room and she was AMAZING!!!!! She was SO well mannered, POLITE, pleasant and she made us feel WELCOME and answered my questions politely. My daughter and I love her! When the dentist came,she was as AMAZING as Yesenia. She was very sweet, her and Yesenia spoke with good manners,pleasant and polite. Sorry to use the same description over and over again. But it's the best description I can give them. The front desk and back room are night and day difference. The rooms are clean,sanitized,fun,and again we love love our dentist and Yesenia. We are going back because of them. I'll have to hold my breath just to get through the front desk people's attitude, the back room staff are all worth it.
