Childrens Dental Health isdedicated to serving your child withthe finest pediatric dental care possible. Each of our friendly and compassionate pediatric dentists has received an additional two to three years of specialized training with a focus on children. Their approach to care involves a show, tell, do method, in which each pediatric dentist is careful to first show a patient what they plan to do, and explain how or why they will do it before taking action. This ensures that children are comfortable with dental equipment and they they begin to learn the routine of what to expect at each dental visit.

Following your check-in at our front desk, your child will be escorted to one of our treatment chairs in our patient hygiene bay, where they will be able to relax, put on their (super cool!) sunglasses, and watch a movie during their check-up. The hygienist will then perform a teeth cleaning, which includes flossing, and fluoride application.

Once your childs dental cleaning is complete, one of our pediatric dentists will perform a complete examination of your childs teeth and mouth addressing any additional concerns. Your dentist will then recommend a schedule for your childs future dental visits, which can range from once every 3 to 6 months, depending on their risk level for cavities. Once your childs visit is complete, they will receive a fun prize from our kids treasure chest, as well as a dental goodie bag, which includes a child-sized toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.

Children’s Dental Health of Lancaster - Pediatric dentist in Lancaster, PA

Pediatric dentists are specialists in treating the unique needs of children. A pediatric dentist has completed an additional 2-3 years of specialty training beyond dental school and treats the oral health needs of infants and children, including those with special needs. Pediatric dentists are skilled at using smaller equipment designed for a childs mouth and better understand the intricacies and importance of baby teeth in a growing child. They also focus more attention on educating patients and parents about preventive care to help children avoid complications such as decay, infection, speech problems, and cosmetic issues.

Primary, or baby, teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to erupt. It is important to remember that oral health affects more than the health of your teeth. Cavities in baby teeth cause pain and swelling that can be tremendously uncomfortable for your child. Oral infections can enter the blood stream and lead to other serious health problems. Bacteria can quickly jump from one part of the mouth to another, thus resulting in infections and cavities in new erupting adult teeth.

Were always looking for opportunities to help our patients form healthy habits at a young age! Our team loves to get involved in our community by visiting kids in surrounding school districts or attending local community events. If youre an educator or parent who would like us to visit your school or event, you can request your school visit, dental screening, or FREE virtual curriculum session below.

If I could count on how many times we waited because they over book what short staff they do have. Why is getting a simple school note faxed to attendance so difficult? Why my children should have to wait an hour in a chair watching others come and go?? This was the last straw because they are booked out until February 2023 already so good luck with this practice I am done being infuriated by the unprofessionalism and inconveniences of this office

My daughter broke her front tooth. We scheduled an appointment with the York location a month out. The York location called a week before her appointment and had to change the date, time, AND location to Lancaster because they did not have enough dentists staffed. I am a teacher and took a half day off work only to have the Lancaster location call me two hours before the (rescheduled) appointment to cancel. We will be finding a new provider.

Used to like them, but after today, we will be going elsewhere. Daughter had an incident in May and scheduled a cap for November at the York location. A week before, the Children's Dental Health of York office canceled our appointment due to staffing issues and sent us to their Lancaster location. 2 HOURS before the rescheduled appointment, the Lancaster location called and canceled it. We have taken time off of work and school for nothing. The kicker - the re-rescheduled appointment is in early 2023, almost 9 months after the initial incident.

This place was never great but it is horrible now. Like others have said, overbooked, cancel appts with little to no notice, no dentist!? Yes, a pediatric dental office with NO DENTIST on site. The receptionist is rude every single time I've checked in. I'm not sure if he hates his job, kids, or all of the above but there is no need to be so short when your job is to interact with patients and families. Please save the automated response of you are doing your best bc this is no where near anyone's best and if it is, you have no right to be in healthcare. I am actively looking for a new dental office for my children.

This location used to be great, but within the past year, they have become awful. They have had to reschedule my son's appointment for a filling 3 times now. They say it's due to not having a dentist available. How is it that you have no dentists? I'm not the only one with this complaint. My brother also takes his children here, and they cancelled their kids' appointments an hour before on the same day. That is just unacceptable. Every time I have been in the office it is packed, and people come in constantly. It seems like they overbook appointments like crazy. This is a pediatric dental office, you should know that you should be allowing for extra time with patients due to anxiety/fear of the dentist. I understand staffing issues are commonplace nowadays, but when it comes to children's health, that is unacceptable. By cancelling appointments for required dental issues, you are taking the chance that these problems might become major problems by pushing off treatment.

The dental staff (dentists and hygienists) are very kind and knowledgeable but scheduling can be a pain here. Received a text message 6pm the night before a 9am appointment that it canceled due to a dentist call out. Called right away to reschedule and they could not accommodate until December (appointment they cancelled was September)!!!

Phone tag central. Put you on hold, drop your call. You leave a message, they do not return your call. Coordinator is unorganized.

I'm fed up, I have been canceled twice now due to a shortage in staff which is understandable because that's everywhere but to recieve a text saying my children are overdue is ridiculous, I didn't cancel you did. You should have called to reschedule instead of a text. I will find a new dental place for my children. The call waits are ridiculous too

I do not recommend this dental group. Drove almost an hour for an appointment that was "cancelled because they short staffed" I never received a phone call to tell me. Tried tellin me I was sent an email an I check my emails daily an no notification was ever sent. Thanks for a waste of time and gas for nothing. We won't be back.

They canceled my son's appointment for the fourth time today. 2 times over the phone. On the third time, we were told that our appointment was canceled once we were at the office. They gave us another appointment to come in and I got a call a day before that the appointment was canceled. I went to the clinic and asked them why and they said they can see my son actually. But today, I got a call from them again that they can't see my son and we have to reschedule again. It was just for a routine cleaning and I would understand if it happened just once or twice due to unfortunate reasons. But four times for just a routine cleaning appointment and I feel that they did it on purpose due to my race.

They claim they are short staffed but have over 8 dental assistants chatting in the reception area, canceled my child's appointment over 2 times, we finally don't get cancelled and are told we have to wait over a hr because their backed up with an empty waiting room very unprofessional

My 6 year old just saw the dentist today. A few issues here. 1) I had to waste my time at a dental appointment in Reading office where she was scheduled to have her work done. They office lost her paperwork and had to redo everything instead of the work she was to have done that day. So they scheduled her to the Lancaster office today at 9:30. 2) They inform me that I can't go back with my child while she's under sedation. I refuse and insist if my daughter is sedated I am going back 3) They do a good job of calming her down because she was upset thinking I was going to leave. Only positive part of this experience. 4) They give her novacaine, she has a reaction and starts to scream. Instead of being patient and letting her calm down and go numb before extracting the tooth they decide to just yank the tooth out eliciting the most pained scream I've ever heard from my child (No wonder they want to keep parents from going back). They then rush us out as fast as then can. When I ask about my daughters tooth, the first tooth she's lost, they inform me that they threw it away and refuse to retrieve it. This facility should be investigated with their treatment of kids. I find it hard to believe this is the only time they've behaved this way. *Reviewed for Reading and Lancaster since both offices share fault*

This dental office is extremely unprofessional! My son is on the spectrum and we have been going to this location for awhile and it's noted in his chart that a parent will accompany him back at all his appointments. They told me today they don't allow parents back and they don't make any exceptions even if my son is on the spectrum. There reason was because they are short staffed and have been getting dentist from Philadelphia area. Don't know what that has to do with anything? They lost my business, would really consider twice before taking your children there.

Run down, dirty, long wait time and unprofessional staff. Waited 3 hours for a simple cleaning for my son and when I called to speak to a manager about various issues I never got a call back. I went there because I wanted a dentist that deals specifically with children and could ease my son as this was his very first visit - huge mistake. Don't waste your time here; go somewhere else!

We showed up for my sons appointment 10 minutes early only to be told that we were rescheduled. After showing the reception my phone with 4 confirmation text messages all saying that my appointment was at the time we were there for, the receptionist still argued that I was wrong. I then shown him my contact log proving I even called to confirm our appointment. We then waited 40 minutes for my son to be called back. Once called back we waited another 1 hour and 20 mins to be seen by the actual dentist. During this process I had to use the rest room. I had already witnessed 1 woman being walked in on so i thought "no biggie maybe she forgot to lock the door." No!! Thier only working restroom does not lock. The children are handled in a assembly line manor. The dentist patient comfort level and relationship are nonexistent! I will never return to this location which was made clear before we left. How a 10 o'clock cleaning appointment (approx: 35 min appt) went till 12:38 is beyond me!

There is one hygienist named Elizabeth, she is great and caring and we very much like her. On the contrast, our appointment times would get changed with an hour notice. I would call and they would say that the first time I had was incorrect when I had text messages to prove it. They also would pre schedule us when I did not request it. I would have to call customer service to cancel it. We also had a different dentist not agree with the treatment another dentist at the same practice and would not perform the treatment. That was actually performed by Elizabeth, not the dentist. I did receive a call from the office manager who explained it to me but still did not understand why it could not be performed if one dentist already signed off on it. She also did not have an answer of why our appointment times were changing for no apparent reason. They also did not tell us, we are foster parents, that we needed consent from our case worker, who is out of state. My foster daughter had already been treated at that location and didn't need it before but did at the 2nd treatment, does not make sense to me nor my case workers. My foster daughter did like the prizes they got at the end but as parents we will not be back if we can help it.
